Looks like some kind of hornet wannabe.

African Blue/Purple hornet.

They aren't purple hornets or blue hornets. Those have a yellow skirt from what I have seen. Looks like a variant of the hornets though.

Didn't know they are supposedly hard to care for. Hope yours don't just melt away.

I had a frag of blue steel, they melted one day when I just looked at them wrong. Very touchy, but beautiful if they like your tank.
