Zoas overtaking SPS plug

I have an SPS frag encrusting on a plug. Its doing well but there are also some zoas taking the plug over. How can I safely remove these Zoas without damaging the SPS? Should I try and remove the SPS instead? Should I try and cut the plug? Looking for ideas.

No one has any suggestions? Am I over thinking this too much? I'm concerned that when removing the zoos I will break the sps. If I keep them together I'm afraid one of them will lose out. Is that possible?

Mine r surrounding my red dragon looks cool so far no issues seem to grow around the red dragon

I tweeze them out of my tank. Grab them by the base firmly and then a quick pull can often take the foot along with the polyp. I do suggest limiting how many you pull at a time to reduce the amount of nasties they'll release when being torn.
