In the process of upgrading to a 75gal. Build Thread for more info: http://www.chicagoreefs.com/forums/showthread.php?7109-DB-s-Back!-75gal-Build-Mixed-Reef/page2

Currently have two koralia Evo 1050s on the right side and a koralia 4 (1200gph) on the left side. I plan on keeping mostly LPS / Softies / Some branching SPS. I pretty sure everything will get completely blasted by the K4 no matter how its angled - I know corals can get used to very high flow but i also dont want to lose full extension.

(water cloudy from sand)

My thought is to ditch the K4 for two PHs that are 800gph each. Put an Evo 1050 and 800 PH at each end of the tank w/ the 1050s deflecting diagonally off the front glass. I know that two 800s are more that just the K4 (1200) but its not as strong of a direct flow.

More importantly, I can hook up all 4 pumps to my wavemaker so that only 2-3 pumps are on at once giving a lot of random flow.

Thoughts?

Also will have a little extra flow from my returns - two 0.75" loc-lines w/ flare nozzles split off a Mag 7 - so each will be 150-175gph

There's no way it's too strong. I run 4 tunze's (3x6025's and 1x6045) and a sure-flow modded 750. I plan to eventually mod the shrouds so that they're 6045's, but I think you're fine.

Switch the K4 and buy my JBJ ocean stream. 3200gph of alternating flow on a wavemaker. But, the flow is very wide, not direct, and has been amazing in my 55. Koralia's push a TON of water in a narrow channel. the JBJ has a wider flow, not so drastic, and with the alternating pumps allows for more random flow.

Overall tank flow was not my concern w/ the K4 - such a narrow flow of 1200 gph is the issue -just don't want things totally blasted. The 800gph pumps I found are an off-brand but are suppose to be a wide-spread (not narrow) and again deflecting off the glass plus all plugged into a wavemaker box, I think it would work out well.

Well, if you're interested in my JBJ's they're $50 for the two pumps and wavebox. And they're magnetic, not suction cups. Be wary of suction cups, lol.

Yeah, if the K4 is placed on back wall.. You will have crazy flow!!!

Will have to be placed on side wall.

I have 4 PH in my tank if u can remember :D

Tunze 6025
K-750
K-1050
K-1400

Everything gets flow

Also have the return pushing 700+ gph easy

Crazy Dre

Haha alright dre if your doing w/ softies, etc and we have the exact same tanks I guess I should be okay. Recognize the tank? (build thread has it w/ stand) painted everything black :P
