Very cheap T5 and Leds fixture..

Build it your self rather than go for cheap... at least you can vary the components. Look for good bargins on quality equipment and spend money on things you can not compromise.

+1

You can build a fixture without soldering thats twice as powerful as an Ecotech Radion for several hundred dollars less.

What size tank?

Chinese lights generally last 18-24 months before they start going bad.

If you DIY you can do twice the PAR of a Radion and have better control for about 2/3 the cost

I need led lights what is good light

I'm rocking the ocean revive t247. These are what some here would call cheap leds that last 18 months. Even if that were true, which I'm not debating, you could swap all of the diodes for about $1.50 each and have all new diodes after they originals are shot. Plus, technology changes and you might want different lights for other reasons than the ones you have reaching the end of their useful lives.

I'd rather go cheapish than high end high $. You don't need the priciest lights to grow even the most demanding corals.

Just remember these diodes are only 1/2 the power of a Cree XT-E at the same current and have an inconsistent non-binned spectrum.

Why spend $1000 on corals and gable with an expensive light that may or may nor provide the proper spectrum of light.

You really do not know the spectrum as they will only say "High Quality 3 Watt"..Well Ok but which specific 3 watt and how does that compare to the Cree 5 watt??? The Cree 5 watt Cool White has 28 different colour bins and 5 different intensity bins?

I appreciate your knowledge, but all I really need to know is that I can grow coral......and I can. So in my eyes, I'm not gambling. To be honest, I don't even know what the hell a "bin" is, and I'm not so sure I care. I've had pretty good success so far with the cheapies and I can put the money I save toward corals.

I don't know how a Mercedes compares to my Nissan besides the fact that the Mercedes is nicer and costs a lot more. I do know both will get me where I want to go. Some people do like the Mercedes though.

There are a lot of variables in reefing and lighting is just one. I just need to know that I'm in the ballpark with all of the variables.

The Mercedes will last longer.

The Cheap LEDs do grow coral some much better than others but you really dont know which because of spectrum control.

If you do not know what a bin the LED is and dont care, then you dont care if you your cool whites are 5K or 8K and dont care if the royal blue offers more colour pop. Its more complicated concerning growth as this is just looks.

If the light fails on Thursday...You order it online Friday and its shipped out Monday or Tuesday you will have it on Friday at best...

One week without light...Not to mention you just spent twice.

Its not a Mercedes Nissan comparison its a Mercedes Yugo comparison...
