So I have a few SPS frags that show lighter patches mostly seem to be horizontal (perpendicular to the light fixture so I'm guessing highest light).

Alk and calc are stable (7.98-8.12 and 400-410 respectively)

Temp is stable

Corals were dipped and nothing came off. Did it again recently to confirm I didn't miss flatworms. Also the white patches don't seem to be spreading.

Tank is a 12" shallow tank and the light is a 6 bulb with 2 blue+, 1 coral+, 1purple+, and 2 actinic. Corals are 4-5" from water surface. Light is about 14-16" above the tank.

Pictures were taken with iPhone6 under white cool LED although the white patches are harder to see under while than under blues.. But my phone sucks with pictures under those colors.

Also to note, the corals are coloring up extremely well in comparison to when they were put in the tank.

This one is a green under blues but a lighter green on the more horizontal surface

This one is teal to blue/purple but on the top of the inner branches lightens quite a bit in comparison.

This one was all green. It has lightened up and developed purple tips.

What's your NO3 and PO4? I have had some white/dead patches in my SPS when NO3 gets high (+20). Those white circles in the lower right of the deepwater pic scare me a bit (AEFW), but the pic isn't clear enough to get a good idea of what is going on.

Being such a sallow tank light maybe just to much if a stick went from green to white its in to much light unless the coral wasnt suposse to be green . Maybe find oar meter and see what par u cooking them under my guess would be its a light issue not pest

Check at night. My son had these spiders that were eating the flesh off his sps. I'll ask him what they were called

Could be light but depends how long theyve been in there and if he changed anything. If theyve been there for lets same 2 months and its just now showing up then id say something different. Lots of variables with the little amount of info given so far

Jon what fixture? is it the one that you had above the tank last weekend or did you hang the ATI that was in the room, it looks to be more light damage then anything else if it were pest it would be dead already.

What about Nitrate and Phosphate?
I'll be honest as I do not test nitrate of phosphate very much because I hate my test kits. Just ordered a Red Sea set today and I'll take my water over to the LFS for testing today and get back to you guys!

This is one of those I have re-dipped. No issues. Turkey basted too with nothing falling off. The patches don't look like bite marks up close like in people with AEFW I have seen. I'll certainly get back on the NO3

looks like round bite marks in this image?
See above, dipped, redipped without any issue. including tuckey baster blasting any holding on for dear life. Nothing came off in the dip.

Thanks, no worries there.

Also, what you dip with?
Reef Dip (at a higher than recommended dosage). Suggestions on others?

This is what I was thinking. I'll see about getting the PAR meter from Josh again.

I do this often. I love watching the tank at night and have taken a flashlight to the corals during this time without anything standing out. One thing to note is there is an Acrocrab on this piece. I didn't point that out as other pieces were having issues and not just this one.

This one in particular, the "deep water", was a very deep greenish brown. It has lightened significantly overall and now developing these purple tips. I was guessing that these are the more natural colors but am not sure. No other changes in feeding, lights, etc.

I agree and this was my thought process as well. I did not switch to the ATI. This is still the existing (and very old) Current USA Nova Extreme Pro.

I need to see Nitrate first, Phosphate second. If there is no pest stop dip the SPS, it will hurt more...I hope your Nit not 0 with that strong light.

I hope and I think no pest there...

Yes, I'll get the details asap! I don't think Nitrate is 0.. I feed a lot. I will get the numbers for you though.

Here is a pic under flashlight with lights out. Notice the light skin is all under more intense lights.

I only dipped a second time when I saw it lightening up. All good, no more dip for this dip

As right now...turn off the skimmer, reduce the light time..until you get the test kit and we go from there.

Look like your SPS starving..Those are new SPS? How the old SPS?

Well over 2 months. The smooth acro was purchased when ReefWise had their first shipment of "mini colonies" for $25. So maybe closer to 3 months. The others were when I went to AP for you and when I picked up the chalices. I got another few then and a few more a few weeks before.

Haha, thanks Joe (or JoeMad) :sparta-lol:

I agree completely with your thought process as this was also my initial thought. I'm going to test NO3 and PO4 and see if that is also contributing to the corals lighter skin where the light its it most. Thanks!
