I stopped into Old Orchard Aquariums in Skokie this afternoon. They had a Super Bowl sale this past weekend with some amazing deals. I was expecting the selection to be very limited, but to my surprise, their selection was amazing. I did some serious damage, but I think I was able to leave some stuff behind.

If you have time and are in the area, stop in to check out the coral. The livestock is great per usual, but the coral is def. the highlight!!
 
I would prefer paying a couple dollars more, knowing that I am getting something that is of good quality. I would challenge the people that havent been there recently to revisit them. I've only been stopping in for the last year or so.
 
I saw quite a few sick fish and it was definitely over priced when I dropped in. Might have been a bad weekend for them, who knows. They do have a nice variety though, and the tanks were nicer, less sick fish than what I saw at Aquarium Adventures at least! Not ranked very high for me, but always good to know others have had good experiences.
 
i used to go there for thier superbowl specials but i stopped cause they were kinda rude. so i figured why drive so far to be treated rudely.
 
I've been in this hobby for about a year now and one of the the first places I started going to was Old Orchard Aquarium. Since that year I've found a lot of other places where the people are friendlier and very helpful. The prices are also not as competitive at Old Orchard. I stopped going there because I got tired of being treated rudely. The only person there that made it worth going was Justin. He was also great to deal with and very knowable.

It seemed like everyone was busy doing something when I stopped by recently. There were only a couple of people who were there to help customers. I'm new so I was impressed by the selection but taken aback by the prices.
 
I work minutes from Old Orchard, and honestly I wish I liked the place, but the truth is I hate it! I went in for Super Bowl sale this year and walked out empty handed, couldn't find anything worth QT'ing. I'd rather drive 45 mins plus and go to Sho Tank or Reefwise. Also if I don't mind waiting a week or two there has yet to be a fish Voytek at Coral Reef has been unable to get for me.
But I am glad you were able to find something amazing.
 
I been there alot when im bored owner is really nice guy. But always high prices boring corals if u think those corsls r cool u need to get out to dif lfs like rw or show tank then rethink your experiance
 
i love the fish selection but man are they rude to me pretty much everytime i go in there. Owner has be the most rude to me over the years. I also used to trust them for premixed water up until that water crashed an sps system of mine. since op is downtown ill make you a deal, one of these days when im driving to a store ill pick you up and take you to a better store.

Joe, you are the first person say "owner is really nice guy"....May be your name is Mad...Joe so he scare...That owner guy is a F..ing J...k.
