Announcing Frag club

In the $20/mo range I would be more inclined to purchase, however if the majority of corals will be SPS, then I will not be interested.
 
I am new to the group and very interested in frag project...if there was such a thing....but there is not.... So....

What is status...?

Whether I join or not, I would be happy to help with fragging the colony for ya. Assuming it works into my schedule. I only have a few days left on my hall pass, then its back to normal family life.
 
Again I would like the ask the question (which was previously brought up in the hidden reef) - it is going to be a variety of coral type month-to-month? I know it's based on availability/season but obviously SPS are the easiest to frag. I just think this needs to be somewhat specified before hand if it's going to be saw 4 months of SPS. As we discussed before some people might not enjoy SPS as much and/or cannot support them. I know this is a "risk" you take with the club but I think a variety of coral type would be the best for everyone. :)
 
Right. What we are throwing around the brainstorm is how to appeal to the guys that dont want sps. Since that group is a majority i think the best way to get the club rolling is to run It more like a monthly group buy than the club as previously described. The club will have a yearly fee in. Then its your discretion whether you buy the coral in the first place. The admin costs associated will have to be determined with some of the money going to the vendor to cover like an acan month where im a little less comfortable fragging and they can pitch in. Either way this will be starting in the very near future. To appeal to everyone i think this is a very solid way to get the club rolling. Yes there might be 3 months where sps are involved however the same could be true for zoas in this arrangement. The monthly party still stands as like a book club would do. Once we get farther down the road and people would like to host at their house that can be done as well.
 
Health of the corals was also questioned. We can also do something where if the first week the colkny is purchased and that same week the colony is cut up and by the third weekend of the month we know which frags are going to make it. So no one is getting a potential melter. Or at least limiting that chance.
 
I also wanna say that wcr has been incredible helping me figure this out. You guys dont see the books going back and forth, but they are def. Trying as hard as i am to get this ironed out.
 
i am interested, instead of bacon of the month club, now I can be in coral of the month, although it is hard to beat bacon! :)
 
Ok. After deliberation. This will be an sps heavy event with the occational lps as supplies are dictate. To start that will be the first group. Once someone wants to step up and start the zoa side. That can be a second group. Still stands as a monthly buy in. I will frag the colony and frag plug and allow to heal in my tank for at least 10 days with the extra kept for 1 month to allow for bleachers. Then vendor can pick up a frag for their growout purposes if there are any left. We are still talking about price. But the 30 dollar mark on the high end is looking like what me and eric are shooting for.
 
Since this is so new, any chance of at least announcing the FIRST frag/colony prior to having to buy-in for the 6months? Haha, I guess I may end up w/ a small SPS collection from this club.
 
Yes i think that is fair. Once we get a good amount of people interested. Enough to start the official thread. Ill have the writeup.
 
And there is nothing saying at the end of those 6 mo. We cant do a 6 mo zoa buy in. Very real possiblity.
 
Sounds good - I'll be able to support anything (about to get Gus's Gamma LEDs) just not huge into SPS, but afew NICE pieces would be cool. Just think that more people would also be inclined to join if they knew what the first piece was as a way of showing 'whats to come' out of the other/following pieces.
