another stolen car please report it if seen

is this the eg your talking about? well my buddy that got this white s2000 stolen was stolen at about 9:30 pm. when his s2000 was stolen he found out how they got the car started. ill try to explain as best i can. on certain cars i hear like the s2000 you take out the current ECU and attach the ECU from another s2000 that you have the key to. put the key in the ignition and walla you start the car like nothing. his ECU was damage and a plug accidentally damaged so they only made it 2 blocks or so away he found the car luckily.

Ya that's the car. And go figure, another person I know just posted this morning that his civic was stollen last night too.

So glad I don't own a Honda.

But technically ya that would work. There is a wire coiled around the ignition. When the key is in, the chip sends a signature to the coil which then the computer can read. Each computer has a specific signature it looks for. So swapping the ECU and having the matching key would work.

But if the car is boosted or heavily modified this wouldn't work. Because they would also need to have the same tune. A boosted car typically will not run on stock maps it'll just keep dying out.
Aftermarket boost.

Its a terrible reality... I had my honda civic stolen right in front of my apt when i lived in chicago 3 years ago, 3 blocks south of west of wrigley field super busy area, We had only been there for 2 weeks and i pulled the ecu at night and the steering wheel. It was a 91 swapped motor turbo, coilovers etc... Was literally pulled out of the spot it was parked in and dragged/ towed away. Chicago police didnt give 2 ****s. Called 3 days later said the found it stripped somewhere south and it was being moved to a tow yard. Went to take a look at it and the tow yard said we never got that car. Shady shady shady people. Lesson learned, my sti was never brought down there for the 2 years we lived down there till i got a parking spot in our gated parking lot the last 6 months i was there.
