Any Bow Hunters Here?

If you want an awesome bow then a Mathews z7 hands down is the top of the line bow or Mathews newest the creed. But!!!!!! Always try a few and go for what your more comfy with. There's Freddy bear sports in tinley park that will help you out setting up a bow. And cabelas in Indiana or hoffman estates. And if you decide on a Mathews you'll only find them at the independently owned archery stores not bi retailers. Get the bow naked. With nothing on it and stop by cabelas and pick the stuff you Want for it. The small shops will try to give you the more expensive stuff for the bow which I honestly don't think is necessary. It's just a name brand on the accessories you pay for.

I forgot about cabellas.
Ok. Dumb question.... What is considered as a naked bow?
What should I be looking at as a beginner/noob in setup/options/pricing?

I'm looking for a decent bow that I can grow into and upgrade later and not having to break the bank and waste $$.

A naked bow I call when the bow has no sights, arrow rest, no stabilizer, no accessories. When I got my Mathews I went to a bow/gun shop in Indiana and they wanted 1300 with their sight, arrow rest, quiver etc. they are ok accessories but way to over overpriced. I paid about 800 w/ tax for the naked bow went to cabelas picked out my dozen of arrows, decent sight, decent arrow rest, decent sights, decent quiver, already had a release and paid only about $150 w/ tax more for those things at cabelas so that's about 950 and then I got a good stabilizer for it for 50 bucks. So $1000. So instead of paying 1300 bucks I paid about 1000 saved about 300 plus whatever taxes would've been. They where including a nice Mathews soft case that goes with that bow but I did not need that since I had a case for it already. And they where only including half dozen of arrows for the same price I paid for my dozen. It's expensive to start off but I think a bow pays for itself after 2-3 years when you get your 2-3 kills or more per year.

Nice I'm glad I found this thread. Just checked some field cams I put up for fun a few months ago. Didn't have great pictures some nice does with there fawns and some giant squirrels.

Yea I'm thinking about upgrading to a drop away I'm just not sure which one it get. Ive been looking at the QAD one but I'm not sure yet.

Technically I think the min legal draw weight is 45 lbs but I would not use it to hunt deer. I want an arrow to pass through for a good blood trail and ethical kill.

wel they do have a 50lb draw for the same bow but even at 50lb i would have to be a good shot or not get a kill?

+1 to what Top Water says...I have never shot less than a 60lb bow and I have never had a deer go more than 50 yards before dropping. Had to pass up MANY a shot a REALLY nice deer as I would not take the crappy pot shot.
