Anyone have a Microscope ???

EricTheRed

No, I'm not a communist..
So, I'm still trying to figure out what the golden-brown bacteria-like growth is in my sandbed ( http://www.chicagoreefs.com/forums/showthread.php/25284-Golden-Brown-Mystery-(Bacteria-)-Need-ID )

I've pretty much ruled out diatoms and dino and believe it to be some type of bacteria. I also believe that it is affecting my acros since many of them are necrotic from the base and/or tips.

This is the final straw for me as it has broken my spirit. if I cannot ID this stuff and get rid of it soon I'm going fowlr for good...

So I'm wondering if anyone has a microscope that i can look at this stuff under to try and ID it

Sorry to hear that bro.....I hope you can get to the bottom of things. Good luck.

Yeah, I've got a good microscope but I'm way too far. If you are heading down towards japan, drop me a line.

Good to know, thanks.

Also, I figured I'd clarify that I'm not looking to take someone's microscope, I was thinking of bringing a sample to you.

Are you doing anything to treat it? I had a similar issue a while ago. I assumed it was a bacteria related to my biopellets. I dosed mb7 and it took care of it, but then I started to get a green cyano. Now I think I have cyano and dinos that I'm aggressively fighting with vacuuming/power heading, peroxide, a shorter light period, and raising my ph with kalk. Good luck man, I'm feeling your pain.

Well, I ran some chemi-clean but it didn't die. I'm hoping to ID it and then zero in on a treatment instead of trying a whole bunch of things one at a time. I'll pick up some mb7 and see what happens. Good luck with the dinos...I've heard those are really tough to fight.

I have Dino's, joined this forum to see what you guys had to say about them. I've read over 1000 pages on RC and nobody seems to have a good solid way to beat them. Ericthered, any pictures?

I cut the light cycle down to 2 hours a day for the last 2 months and it appears to be gone. I can do this because all of my coral were wiped out and I only have fish. I've yet to increase the light cycle back up to 8 hours to see if it really killed them off. It probably didn't....
