Aqua Pros Glen Ellyn

So I went there today.....

My GPS said I had arrived but all I saw was a Bridal Shop. I hopped on my phone and went to their facebook page and read that they were in the rear of the building so I parked behind the Firehouse and I easily saw it.

I walked in and it was a small shop. He was the only one in there and there were tanks on 3 of the walls and a frag tank along the window. The prices were GREAT. I came specifically for the Lettuce Slugs and ended up picking up a HUGE frag of Anthelia for less than $9. I was shocked. He had a ton of really nice frags but I don't think his lighting is setup to really keep them colored up nicely or show them off better. Everything was healthy and active and I didn't see anything dead in any of his tanks.

He's running this shop pretty much by himself and I really respect him for loving what he does and opening up his shop. He's super nice and really shy....and not pushy. I'll definitely go back...maybe next week to pick up a fish that I should have grabbed. :banghead:

He said his buddies were out back working on some tanks and a bigger space in the back so I suspect he's working on a major update. I'm certainly supporting the little guy and his prices are insanely low. Lower than any of the LFSs I have been to in Chicago...and I have been to most of them. :yes2:

Yep, great store, great prices, and great guy. I agree with the not so colorful SPS frags, but I'm assuming that will change when the move to the new space. I'll definitely be back!

I agree too. Very nice guy, I had a great conversation with him. Oh yeah, and very nice corals at great prices!

My experience

David is a great guy. I have never met him but he answers my e-mails quickly and honestly and his prices are fair. :)

Dave is a great guy. I'm goin in there tomorrow to see if he's got any new shipment of cool goodies. Prob will pickup another occey to replace a male i lost due to ich.

I went today and must have been bad timing there was nothing good at all real weak set up would not waste money on gas and toll ways again

If you're far away you need to plan on going right after Dave gets his order in. He just moved to the back building so he's re-doing his setup too. Believe me, I've gone to many places, including MCF and realized later that I need to check with them before I go if I'm looking for something in particular. Last time I went to Aquapros, he just got a shipment of corals and I got some awesome zoas!! Okay, I got a lot more, but who's counting, lol!

ok Catran you talked me into giving the place one more try i like to help out a fellow reefer so i will phone first next time

Yeah, I bought a really beautiful orange BTA from him about 3 months ago. It was small, so he gave me discount on it. I have 8 more BTA's and the orange one is the only one that's kept its bubbles. Not only is it healthy and beautiful, but it's doubled in size way faster than my other ones. He's watching for a neon green one like it for me. I can't wait!

You have to go at the right time. The majority of his prices for dry goods and livestock is very competitively priced and that alone keeps me coming back. You have to be quick though because he will get a ton of stuff in and everyone watches his facebook page, so they swarm in. If you see something, shoot him a message on FB and he will hold it for you. I've gone in on weekends after a huge shipment that he's had come in during the week and folks will have wiped his tank clean of everything....and I am stuck there having drivin a gazzilion miles with nothing in my hands except Daisy.

He'll try his best to get in requested items and he's super friendly...and a bit shy....and it's adorable!!!

Dave has the best prices and he is really fair about getting stuff in for you. I watch his Facebook and if I see something I like I can comment on it and he will hold it. I have never gotten a bad coral or fish from him. He is also great about answering my 1,000 questions per visit. If you haven't stopped in to his place your losing out. BTW I am not a personal friend just an appreciative customer.
