Smart ATO is great, I got it in a AIO tank where water is always moving with no issues.

My tank isn't drilled and as I did research I decided not to go with one because of that reason, that the water moment would mess with the sensor. Besides with the way that I have my power heads set to crescent mode i believe it would just cus more issues.
 
I'm using ReefBreeder's Exo-ATO. Pretty simple setup. Granted, there is no redundancy built in, but there are various alarms if the pump goes too long without activating, etc.
