Bad thing to wake up to :( fish dead

Now that you guys mentioned it .. I'm seeing it now and yes there is no Breaking of surface at all ..

And in nuvos water flows though bottom from one chamber to another unlike biocube overflowing from one to two

Ill put in a air pump in one of the back chambers, I though of doing so earlier but thought of water splashing and salt creep ..

And Jose.. Ph swings from 7.5 at night to 8 in the mornings

that ph is ok, yeah, just do something simple to add oxygen. Since you have back chambers i would do an air pump with an airstone attached, if you dont have a cover for that chamber just make one out of scrap acrylic, that should keep your salt creep to a minimum. i have some scraps if you need them.

Yea would do that today

Ok other than oxygen deficiency what other things kill fish but leaves coral alone ??

And are my corals in any danger ??

I am planning to stop by at new fish today with my water sample and talk to James he has good experience I think

ill probably stop by new fish too, i want a philly cheese steak and my favorite place is on that side of town.......

Oxygen dificiency or probably a bacterial infection... Did u check ur fishies b4 u sent them away to the toilet.. If u saw there gills are red or inflamed probably bacterial... Sorry bout ur loss

Yea I saw them thoroughly before disposing them
Everything looked fine but well I'm not that good at looking at dead fish

Assuming it is bacterial infection that the fish died with ... Does it pose a threat to my corals ???

Oxygen saturation will effect corals as well, you should notice an improvement with higher levels. I don't know of any diseases or parsites that cross between corals and fish.

Wow, sorry to hear that Tin... My guess would have been oxygen levels also. I think your corals are safe, because inverts and corals use less oxygen than fish do, and it affected them first. If it was a fish disease, then the corals wouldn't be affected by that anyway. Again, I'm sorry to hear about your losses.

yea, i had those clowns for almost a year and those are the reason to setup this nuvo :(

final comclusion is
1. it might be a parasite that kills fish and doesnot affect corals - im going fishless for a month or two so time should solve that problem

2. oxygen saturation problem .. so im adding an airstone to one of the back chambers and setting it to run all nite . .. also talks with james at new fish and he says circulation is enough to dissolve oxygen and no need to break surface .. but well me being in a closed apartment i think air stone might be a good idea ..

Changed 40% water and left the tank alone ..

it sucks when we loose fish :(

Yea sucks when we lose fish. If one positive to the losses, it was that you only had 3 and lost all 3. Makes it a lot easier than having to catch and quarantine any other fish now. Just leave the tank fallow for a few months now and all good to go again with a new fish.

The hardest part now is going to be waiting that long...time for an upgrade :a26:

haha no it wont be that hard to wait for 6 to 8 weeks .. loosing those clown fish hurt me enough not to try and get something and kill it also .. so i would refrain easily ..

I'm really sorry to hear about your disaster Tin!

Fishless is tough, though!! I'm on week 2 of my quarantine on my tank... it's so hard to resist, there are so many good coral deals, and pretty frags! lol...

I'm going to be a negative Nancy. That was too much fish a 8 gallon tank. Even using the freshwater inch per gallon that was over 10 inches of fish.

True todd ... Kinda know that but still pushed .. but well i dont think thats the reason for deaths ..

Thought i can push the limit by doing more water changes

now when time comes i would have only 2 clowns and a shrimp

Thanks for pointing out..

Ok, Added an air pump to the first back chamber of Nuvo

well it created some other problem .. lol so when big air bubbles come up water is not going thru for a split second which is causing the waterlevel in the back decrease a tad little and is causing the ATO switch to activate like for a sec .. should be fine but well ...

can you put one of those little gate valves on the airline to control the flow? Howabout a wooden airstone for a finer stream? If your ATO is kicking on and off a lot you will have a problem with it eventually. My JBJ ATO gets stuck in a position where it thinks it is running the water and it isn't. I got a tunze ozmulator to solve the problem, but I still need to get a part to make that work with regular 120v. You should probably just get one of the little cheapo nano skimmers that run on an airstone to control that issue and maybe actually skim a little. Just some thoughts.
