banded trochus snail breeding - anyone else?

The scum on the water is nasty! It's a thick foam in the sump. Anyone else's banded trochus breeding tonight, a few days prior, or to come? Curious what triggers the mass spawning events like this.

You don't want a photo of this, it looks like a nasty old casting couch.

happened to me and i thought something went severely wrong ..

mine being a small tank i couldn't even see anything with all the milky white thing lol

But i thought those were astreas :S

Even in a bigger tank, the white colums of "smoke" coming from the many snails was impressive, how does such a small critter put out so much "smoke?"

And now tonight, the clenaer shrimp released a brood, nitrates will be up this week...
