Brandon and Cecily's 125g build

So Cec and I got a good deal on a 125g tank stand and sump about a month ago and although we haven't completely unpacked we are officially moved into our new location in Westchester. We have been slowly working on it the past couple weeks so here's our progress so far.

Its a standard RR 6' 125g by all-glass.

I built a pedestal out of 2x6's and plywood to lift the stock 28" high stand to allow easier viewing.

The sump is a 33g long 48x12x12 and included glass baffles which were perfect size for me but weren't positioned the way I'd like so I took them out and re siliconed them in to accomodate my skimmer and a center return instead of center fuge.

The skimmer is a Reef Octopus NWB-200 classic pinwheel skimmer and it sure is big. ;)

Mag 12 for the return pump.

we will be utilizing a BRS dual reactor for carbon and GFO.

2 Eheim Jager heaters one in each overflow box

We will also be dosing kalkwasser via the auto top off

Control will be accomplished using either a Reefkeeper lite plus that I already have or a new Reefkeeper Elite Titanium special edition if the budget permits.

Right now we have 1 brand new MP40wes and plan to buy another when the funds are there. For now we will supplement with a couple koralias.

As for lighting we will be running 3 of the new CoralCompulsions cc-120p programmable 120w led lights

As of now the tank is in place lights are hung sump and equipment is in place ww just need to finish up some plumbing make a crap load of salt water and aquascape and then we will be ready to go.

Overdue for an update so here ya go.

Tank has been running for a couple weeks. Used half dry rock and half live rock from an established system. Current inhabitants are a Buckshot Clown, Midas Blenny, Randalls Goby with Candy Cane Pistol Shrimp, and two Cleaner Shrimp.

I will need some help with coming up with a stocking list but ill ask about that later.

Here's a pic for now.

the tank looks AWESOME!!! def wish i could get a big tank like that.. how r u liking using three cc120's on it?

Love them with one exception. The drivers for the moonlights are lower quality and because of that one light the moonlights turn off at 10% another at 9% and the last one at 5%. Not a super huge deal but for like 20 minutes around 11:30pm two lights are completely off and one still has moonlights that would be my only complaint. Yea it is amazing the space available in a 6' tank. I had to put it in the basement due to the weight. My biggest concern is how to stock such a huge(to me) tank and how much is too much. Later today ill post a list with desired fish species and maybe some of you guys can help me figure out what is an appropriate stocking level for this size tank.

Ok so I have no idea what is an appropriate stocking level for this tank in the long run. I plan on a mixed reef with LPS and SPS. I am using a Reef Octopus nwb-200 skimmer and I am running carbon and gfo in a brs dual reactor. I do not want to overstock this tank but I did get a 6'er so I could have certain larger fish (tangs).

First off here are fish that we already have.

1 buckshot clown. (Definitly will be getting another so just make it 2)

1 Randalls Goby w/pistol shrimp

1 Midas Blenny

1 Potters Angel he is currently in grow out/frag tank to see if he is a nipper and will be there for a while

These are species of fish that we like. I know not all of these can go in the tank together and I don't plan on adding them all at once I just like having a stocking plan so we don't make impulse buys. Please help me narrow down how many, which species, and possibly what order would be appropriate.

An asterisk means this species is highly desired by us.

1 Starry Blenny

1 Borbonius Anthia*

1 Diamond Goby

1 Mystery Wrasse*

1 Radiant Wrasse

1 Melanarus Wrasse

1 Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse

1 Yellow Eye Kole Tang

1 Whitetail Bristletooth Tang*

1 Yellow Tang

1 Powder Blue Tang

1 Purple Tang

I know we can't have all those tangs together and probably not that many wrasses either. Again this is just a list of species we like I'm hoping you guys can help us narrow this down to an acceptable stocking plan for our 125g. Thank you in advance for any help and opinions you may be able to give.

I'd say that those tangs and wrasses are in fact doable IF you're smart about how and when you add them. It sounds like you have an awesome tank planned, fish and all, and I can't wait to see it unfold!

We were thinking two maybe three tangs max. Certain tangs don't do well with others of the same genus like I wouldn't do a yellow and a purple together in our tank.

The two brisletooths should get along if you added them at once, the powder blue should go in after them to get settled, and then the yellow and puple tangs should go in together after that. If you do it in that order, you'd have a pretty high chance of success. :)

Brandon and Cecily!!!! It's so good to see you guys up and running again!!!!!

Nice to see your update. Hope all else is well too.

Thanks guys. Yes its awesome to be running again and I'm especially happy to have a 6' tank it just seems like there's so much more room. Were still settling into Westchester. Getting the tank running took up a lot of my time we still have some unpacking and organizing to do.

Beautiful tank Sparky and good luck the rest of the way !
Potters Angel is a gorgeous fish and good luck with it.
A few fish you really like always looks more natural than a bunch of random fish swimming all over and thats just imho.

Agreed that's why we want to have a stocking plan to stick to and not just cram a bunch of fish into the tank. I've never had a tank over 75g so that's why I am asking what an appropriate stocking level would be.
