BRS Stolen information!!!!

I got the letter too, and last week my card was compromised. Fortunately the CC company flagged the charges, which were very small charges that looked like they were from Microsoft. It looks like they were testing to see if it worked. CC company cancelled the charges and sent me a new card with different number. Had to change all my auto billing accounts. What a PITA. I guess will be doing Paypal from now on.

I've had 2 cards hacked in the past and each time the cc company covered all the losses. I'm pretty sure it is the law that they have to cover them. Also, I agree that BRS waited waaaaaay too long to tell people about the intrusion. A month later ?!?!

P.S. If my wife ever finds out about the secret stash of hobby-cash I store in one of our old bank accounts I can now tell her it is my dedicated paypal account to protect our other accounts ;)

Thanks for posting this DJE. I haven't recieved any notice from BRS as of yet. I recently had to cancel one of my credit cards due to unauthorized charges. This is probably the source. I'm going on brs and foster/smit to remove any cc info I have.

Well someone decided to use my card today. I've been procrastinating on canceling my card so that's what I get.
At least they used it for something small like casino chips:)

My credit union bank caught it almost instantly since the purchase was made out of state. Keep your eyes peeled guys because they still have the info and unless you cancel and get new cards they will be at it.

So my Paypal got hacked and I am sure it is related. They tried to move money from the bank into my account (which then they would send I am guessing) but picked wrong account which would not have been processed until Monday morning (plus was savings without enough balance). I have replaced all my cards and now added layers to paypal. BRS owes us little more than what they offered if you ask me.

These sites need to learn how to keep sensitive information in the DB encrypted.. I'm sure all your credit card info was in plain text.. I would like to know how they compromised the server, prob something stupid like a web injection technique.. If you used the same password for anything else change it NOW..
