Just curious, why so many yellows?
Iv been told by many that larger odd schools have a higher chance of success. Iv been getting advise from a reefer that has 20+ tangs in his 450

LFS tanks are only temporary holding tanks. If LFS can have 6 in a small tank.. Why not give it a try.. Just saying

Sounds like you're only giving out the info to make this work. It appears you're just going with what you want to hear anyway. Are you a hobbyist of just someone collecting fish for the "look" of a tank?
I would say, don't try it. I had to re-home my Purple tang because he was so aggressive to my other tang. They were the only 2 in a 90g, heavily-decorated tank.

Do different species of tangs get along better than conspecifics?
they do until you push the territory issue with too many, then all bets are off. especially if you add a more docile tang after a more agressive one.Do different species of tangs get along better than conspecifics?
Sounds like your mind is already made up as far as how many tangs you want (give or take 1-2...) and are just looking for confirmation that it can be done so you can do it and sleep easier. Getting the tangs anyway instead of listening to the vast vast majority who tell you it shouldn't be done.
We have just seen it so many times it gets old.
After 99 people say don't do it, a person will find the 1 other person online who claims that it is ok, then go and listen to the 1 other person (because their mind was already made up anyway).
If you look hard enough online you can find tangs in 8g tanks, and even more people who follow that persons lead by assuming they know what they are talking about.
From his last post, i take that he is going to just have what he has right now for awhile. He said he was going to "relax"...
There technically are no "territories" in a home aquarium, at least not in any that are commercially available. Some individuals are just more tolerant of each other. I've had a spotted cheek tang kill a larger, and supposedly more aggressive, bariene tang. Aggressive/peaceful is a vague guide at best. As I'm sure most of you have seen contradictory behavior in labeled species. Each fish has it's own personality.
Keeping incompatible fish together is possible, but it's still a loaded gun.
