Hi,UPS just dropped off my copy of The Coral Reef Aquarium by Tony Vargas.Gold edition signed by Tony.#19 out of 150.
 
nice. he was a big advocate about books for reference instead of the internet at his talk at MACNA... perhaps he was plugging his book indirectly... haha

How is it as far as info? Or with the content go out of date soon - with all the changes the hobby is going through now.
 
As soon as I read it I will let you know,but from flipping through the pages looks like he just describes others well known aquarists systems.A lot of beautiful pictures.

There were a lot of clubs/reefers upset with him for hopping on EVERY forum he could find and just plugging his book and leaving.

Either way it's always nice to have another well regarded print resource to consult and cite to.
 
Well, I would do the same promoting my book if I ever write one.That is his income ,so I don't understand why people were upset.In my job I drive a lot of authors, and all they do is promote their books.

I don't disagree with you, I certainly wouldn't have know about the book otherwise.

P.S. what is your job?
 
Well,took me all about two hours to finish this book,and I must say I am disappointed.It is a basic book about how to set up a tank,with really no new information other than the usual stuff.Lots of pictures and mostly describing various reef set ups of known hobbyists.Same info you can see looking at TOTM on RC.( many of those tanks are in this book).I think this book will not get great reviews from other readers.
