Gonna disagree on months of use for any ro membrane there is no safe months of use on any membrane...if say your town added a high dose of chlorine, and you were running your ro that day it could take it out easily, like in a minute.. once you get the tds meter that should help in that area.
personally i use 3-4 carbons and 2-3 sediment filters in my water replacement setup b4 the ro membrane to try to eliminate this. and change carbon #1 quite a bit
as far as the cyano its feeding off of something, throw away your po4 test kit, those things are useless only gonna measure phosphates in solution and if you have a buildup they are not all in solution. its gotta be your replacement water, or old bulbs, or some other food source feeding the cyano.
