DansReef New 180 Reef

totally Agree, one of the best things about getting up on the weekends, sitting for a bit doing nothing but sitting and watching the tank do it's thing.

So true Josh. I spend more time in the room staring at the tank....listening to a little music...enjoying a beverage or two... I have even been know to drift off to la la land on occasion. It definitely is my favorite room in the house... Every Reefer should have one. :a21:

Wish I could borrow the foxface to take care of the damn hair algae in my tank… :(

I will tell you... This thing has just devoured the GHA from the tank. If he was not such a PIA catching.... I would lend him to you.... I think you just need to get a new 60 or 90 cube to replace your existing tank.... Then buy one of these guys.... Problem Solved! :fish-head-smash:

Did a little of all that yesterday, even tried fighting off the nap but wasn't too successful.

Well...it has been a while since my last update.....a little more than a month. A lot can and has happened in that time. First off... All four of my saddle Anthias have died. No reason...no rationale I can figure out. They seemed to do fine but after a couple of weeks i was down to one... Then Saturday I lost the last one. Pretty expensive fish and then not to understand why... All I can think is they never settled into the tank where they were ok with the light intensity. Since the are deep water Anthias... Perhaps that had something to do with it.

I had a pretty nasty case of Hiar Algae... Not green but brown and almost translucent. It covered everything. Phospates measure via Hanna <.01 and Nitrates 0. It is now on the decline...

New inhabitants are:
3 Disbar Anthoas... Very colorful and active and a much better add to the tank. So far so good.
I had 2 red spot cardinals. Loved them so much... I got 5 more and 5 yellow line cardinals. They like to group up or shoal. Very cool fish for the tank.
Small Tomini Tang...great color and activity and eats the algae like crazy.
Diamond goby... Keeping the sand nice and pristine.
Fox Face I moved from the 72.... Well behaved and really doing a number on algae...

I bought a cleaner shrimp and have a bunch of pepermint as well.

Corals are few at this point. I am in acquisition mode. ETR and others have some nice frags in queue for me.

What I am finding is that this room the tank is in...has become the most comfortable room in the house. I sit here often...as I am now...plugging away on my iPad...or reading the newspaper, drinking coffee or just looking at the tank... It is a great place to let go of the daily stresses.

Here are a few random pictures. Enjoy.

Disbars getting service by the Cleaner Shrimp at his swim up cleaning station. It is funny to watch all three jam themselves in there to get cleaned.

The only body I saw and actually removed was the one that died on Sat. Was doing great...eating fine... Then bam... Hiding thrmnight before...more than usual... then dead the next morning. No sign of any Flukes. I will need to keep an eye on things. Nothing else has shown any issues. I also feed Dr G's medicated eggs every morning. I have heard Anthias can come with intestinal parasites. My hope has been that feeding a small quantity of Dr G's would discourage parasites. I will keep an eye on things. Thanks for the suggestion.

Looks great! Love the anthias and cardinals. Going to look even better once the HA is gone, and it already looks like it's on it's way out. I like that rockwork.

Thanks Mai...but your pics are to drool over...so are your corals. Things are progressing nicely. Thanks for the kind comments.

It has been a couple weeks since my last update. The Algae has disappeared... There is a bit of residual brown stuff but nothing too bad. The shoal of cardinals is awesome; 7 red spot and 5 yellow line. Then these Disbar Anthias are awesome....color and activity. Though I am worried as two of them are doing a lot of dallying and mouth locks ... almost like they are in some pre-breeding activity. They will really get going at it one minute....then they are all cool... Makes for a lot of activity.

Corals are all doing well. I need to get some more SPS in and am thinking of a clam or two.

Here is a video of the Anthias going at it. so far this has been going on a couple of days. No injuries as of yet. I am hoping they will work out their pecking order.
