Dendro or deadro

My temp ranges between 77.7 and 79.7 but is usually on the low end (JBJ Truetemp). Deep inside the polyp cavities I can see yellow and orange ridges, but nothing that looks like standard polyp flesh. It's still pretty bright orange though.

When I see any of mine retract, I get nervous. I feed them til they are so fat that they can't retract. I hope they come out soon. I love these little guys.

Have you offered it any food?

2 or three times I have directed a flow of nutrimar ova, rods coral and enriched frozen brine at them. I even did it once with all the pumps off AFTER feeding everyone else silly. Everything else in my tank is doing great.

They can be so tempermental when they are new.

What kind of flow are you giving it? All three of my colonies like to be in direct flow. My newest one was kept in a canyon protected from flow and it would often close up. When I moved him, he was happier.

If there's any orange at all, it's not dead yet.
Here's mine after I found it behind the rock for a year:

After it got stung by a brain (totally dead :():

I've been meaning to grab a pic. Definitely not "out there and loving every minute of it", but I have seen some tiny evidence of polyp when feeding it. I just moved it last night to a basically dark corner (still good flow though) to see if that will help. Still very orange, but not happy yet.

It is really a lot more orange irl but you can see about as much pe as it has ever had on the bottom polyp. Sometimes there are little nubbins too. It's not dead because it is in different positions all the time. Any thoughts?

This is sort of the back side of it but I dont want to mess with it any more. From the front you can tell it is definitely dendro.

I take that back. It does look like an orange Dendro, just not the ones we typically see. Dave at Aquapros has a colony of similiar ones. They grow a bit different than the ones I have.

I think the seller said they were aussie dendros or something. Mentioned that the polyps are shorter than a regular one. I'm definitely not sure, but my google imaging of the subject gives me the impression that suncorals have a more regular pattern
