Any body on here good at siliconing baffles in sumps?

I just failed trying to do it myself.

Its a 40Breeder 4 baffles.

Please let me know if you can help.

Thanks

Nope tried glass for the first time im going back to acrylic baffles.

Silicone won't stick to plexi
I got glass panels cut at a glass shop
Got 5 panels for like 20.00 bucks
The trick is u want them just a hair narrower than the inside of your tank
About an 1/8 total
So that way when you put the panel in you have about 1/16" gap on each side to squeeze silicone into

If u use plexi it will eventually fail

Here is mine with glass
I used cd cases stacked to space them apart and hold them off the bottom

It's filter floss
To keep the churning of the water down
It's just laid over the elbow
Without it I get foam and bubbles from the water churning up

I never did glass on glass, but this is the 4th or 5th time I've done acrylic on glass. Never had issues with longevity. A sump I made 8 years ago is still going strong for a friend.

I siliconed plexi to glass in my sump, it's been up and running for about five months now and still stuck just fine.

Well I was going to have BamBam build it for me but the wifey wasnt happy about that because we agreed before to try to actually do all this ourselves so I went to menards got a 24"x48" sheet of .220" acrylic I bought a circular saw and a 186 tooth plywood finishing blade and a caulk gun. I didnt see the right silicone there so I stopped at pet supplies plus and picked up 2 tubes of aqueon aquarium silicone.

The cutting went ok not bad but not quite a manufactured edge .

I used a lot of silicone. I figured too much was better than not enough.

So now its curing.

Pic to follow.
