FishBeard's 60g Cube

FishB tank looks great!! Seems to me you are on your way to making your tank an sps tank too. I have been doing dosing and all the other super low nutrient stuff and now all my soft stuff (except zoas and anemones) are not doing so hot. Also i think having LEDs which makes almost no low light areas leads in this direction. But, the sps is growing like crazy and looks hot. Your tank looks fabulous! I have never seen it before the "sps era" but I am thinking you are going in a great direction with tank! Keep up the excellent reefing!!

The tank is probably 90% sps now for corals, and as I start to notice a soft/Lps not looking so good they get moved over to my frag tank. I'm getting lucky with most of my designer palys, but pretty much all the zoas have been removed. The koralia pumps were removed permanently, I see no need for additional pumps since I bought the mp20, but I am waiting patiently for the parts on the cheap to bump it up to a 40 and rock this little cube. I'm very happy with how my tank is turning out, except for being a slave to refilling a 1g water jug for ATO every other day. I need to do something about that so I can just fill a large container once a week. My issue is that we don't have room in the stand and don't want a big ugly water bucket next to the tank.

The not happy lps and softies is also happening in my tank. I am actually getting ready to take some really cool stuff that's not doing so hot over to my local coral slangin friend today. Makes me a bit sad but my favorite has always been SPS and I have seen very few vividly colored sps tanks that can still support yumas and other soft stuff. Plus I am just now realizing that the ugly zoas grow WAY faster then the really beautiful ones and I don't want them taking valuable sps space ;) Some of them will be getting left at my friends house today too. It's a reef cleaning day I guess :)

Yea, SPS is definitely not as vibrantly colorful as a ric/zoa garden, but I'm not really looking for that. I think I have a pretty good variety of "color" in the tank for SPS. I pretty much made the decision to go SPS dominant since this is my hobby and I wanted to be challenged with my hobby. We started with a BioCube, had zoas, rics, leathers, all the easy low maintenance stuff, and although it looked nice, I just wasnt satisfied. The weekly water change just felt more like a chore or just watering the plants. Now that I have taken on this bigger tank, and challenging myself with more difficult stuff, it has really made the hobby 100x more enjoyable. Fortunately, I have hit the point that all the big $ purchases in dry goods is over with and the tank is pretty well stocked, so now I am sort of in the waiting game portion of this hobby, watching small changes on a day to day basis...

Long overdue update, just a quick one. Thanks to Aquapros, I brought home a m/f pair of spotted mandarins! Already have a BIG supply of pods on order headed my way for them to feast on. Its so cute how the female follows the male around all over the place. They were even sticking together at the store is why I had to take both.

Its just a standard Perfecto/Marineland 60g cube and Monterey stand. I got mine from another local who was getting out of the hobby.

Nice pair of gobys! I'd take em out tho an QT them... I got that clown pair I was talking to you about from aquapros and the ich developed and its only been about a week. Not any other fish cuz the nanocube, they are the only fish.

Looking great otherwise!

This pair came out of the large frag tank by the window. There were no other fish in that system aside for a couple other mandarins. Besides, if I QT them they would starve since they are only eating pods at this time. From what I understand mandarins have a very low risk for Ich anyways.

Very nice looking pair! Where did you order your pods from? I thought about adding a male in with my female since she is eating pellets. Not sure if that would be a good idea though.

I know they have mixed reviews, but I gave a shot with reefs2go, I also ordered some more cuc for my tanks. I figure its just inverts and pods, not like I'm ordering some rare expensive fish.

ahh ok, thats good then. Wasn't sure if they all had the water circulate in one main system.

We've had mixed results but they always got our cuc correct.

I use Reefcleaners.com. I've always had great customer service and lots of extras from John!

Hi Cat, I think you mean John at Reefcleaners.ORG (not .com).
John is a great guy, ordered from him many many times :thumb:

Reefcleaners didn't have large quantities of pods available, and what they did have seemed pricey, so I used this opportunity to try out reefs2go this time around.
