Flame hawk and cleaner shrimp.

So, I had a large cleaner shrimp (named Pierre) who was as happy as a clam. I introduced our good friend Walter, the Flame Hawk. Things were fine for months. While Walter seemed interested in everything and nothing, at the same time, in the tank, one day Pierre was gone. What was strange is that he had gone through a bad molt and lost both of his large antenna. Several days later, my daughter and I put out the amber alert. Another oddity was that Pierre's antenna before the molt seemed to be growing brown algae, or what looked like brown algae on them. Was this algae or was it related to the missing antenna? Did his missing antenna contribute to his disappearance - not able to warn/defend himself, starvation? They got along really well before that. Or was it all an illusion?

I personally don't trust hawks around shrimp. Might be ok for a while, untill the hawk decides to eat him.

I was told they don't bother bandits. Any truth in that statement? (of course, I impulsively got one and I'll find out)

My coral banded holds its ground but its also big... I like the flame hawks :thumbup:

Yes, "banded" w/o auto-correct. The antenna thing. Was that like Mad Shrimp Disease from eating all those Mysis brethren? Not serious, just curious.

I think you would be fine with a good sized Coral Banded. With a little size to them, they can definately hold their own.

my coral banded...thinks its the king of the tank....doesnt get scared of anything...including Godzilla
