Friday the 13th bad luck :(

I remember how pissed and sad at the same time I was when my frogfish died. He was such a cool critter. Sorry about your losses...

wait a min .. .different fish died in two different tanks ??


how much did you top off in each tank ?? also did you do it all of a sudden ?? not that you dont know topping off but just asking ..

Yeah.. I added bout half a gallon of Rodi topoff. I did about in an 45 min length of time.. Did it slowly to make sure theres no temp swings..
 
possible that any febreeze or airfreshner was used around the tanks? Even if you topped off tap water in that amount I would be surprised it would be so deadly in two tanks.
 
What was your salinity at? I've noticed that even with ATO my salinity can creep up on me. I've had 2 SG swings... not major either. One I lost an SPS, the other an LPS.

my SG sways between 1.023 to 1.026 is that bad ???
 
If you just changed your ro filters that might of did it. Just courious did you throw away the first 50 gal. Or so of water coming out of the new filters? I always do to be sure there's no contaminants left on the new filters from the namufacturing process
 
Was it ypur frogfish tjat just ate that other fish its stomach looked huge could have done it i cant remember if that was yours and the other night i forgot i turned on my ro adding about 30 gallons of frsh water which brought my salinity from 25 tk 20 slowly changed watwr back out and all is good got lucky i think and try having a good vacation sorry bout the frogfish

50g! whoa. Just need to do 5gal and I only do that on a new RO membrane.

No airfreshner or fabreeze.. I use candles

My salinity was 1.027 just had a minor swing to 1.025 but after i saw the swing i put some saltwater to bring to 1.027

I had it run for about 6 hours b4 i used the actual ro water
