Funlad3's 90 Gallon Peninsula Reef Tank

that sucks why don't u simplify it and get rid of frag tank and just make it little more accident proof. well good luck with what ever u do

I could, but I'd have to tear down the tank in a few months anyways. Tearing down is going to let me simplify in a way more conducive to my fledgling aquaculture business, and it'll make my parents very happy. Plus I can get the school tank running all that more quickly.

Check balls fail. This is the prime example of it. If you design your system right you don't need it. I have about 2 inches of room in my sump before it gets to the top. With all the pumps turned off and when the siphon breaks.
So I don't think it's brs fault. Just a poor plumbing/setup design

Originally, I had no frag tank, and the sump would easily hold all of the water that would drain from the DT if the check broke. With the frag tank, though, I wouldn't have had the room, I was probably five or so gallons of sump space short. Regardless, the check valve was supposed to check the back flow. It didn't. The only thing that's my fault is buying the thing.

exacly you relied on the check valve to comensater for the five gallons of water your setup cant hold. once again your fault for poor design

I guess that I just shouldn't have had a check valve at all then, by that logic. It doesn't matter, at any rate.

Well, I just got refunded for the valve, at least. I still have to repair the cieling and who knows what else, but they did what I felt they should have done. I love BRS. :)

Although i do agree with plumbing the system where u dont need to rely on something not failing . Id never run a check valve ive heard of them failing all the time. But kinda harsh saying once again your fault for poor design dont ya think. Hey ben concider it lesson learned and future prodjects dont rely on equipment not to fail cause everything fails . Ive had my share of water accidents with r/o system it gets fustrating but i just step back look at it and figure out how i can make sure that wont happen again. Now go fix that dam ceiling boy before i woop u

Hey Ben sorry to here about you taking down your 90, but if you need to rehome your other potters just let me know. Your angel is doing fantastic, althought whats left of my monti cap hates him (the main piece of monti was relocated to my frag tank)

Brandon, that wrasse is staying here! My dad is going to begrudgingly let me put it in his 125, so he and the assessor have a home. Glad to hear that the Angel is doing well; it was one of my favorites. :)

And Joe, lesson learned on the plumbing. I wouldn't have had to deal with it had the frag tank not been an afterthought, but oh well. My DT, my dad's 125, and all of the tanks I'm setting up for school are flood proof, baring a broken panel of glass....

As for the ceiling, I'll get to it eventualy! :D
