Update: 09/11
I removed all my live rock and slowly replaced it with the above Vida rock. I left in one extremely mature piece that will remain in for the next 90 or so days. I did this to minimize the chance for a larger cycle.
My fish have now been removed for about three weeks now and started with a copper treatment, however the Noako Wrasse was not a fan of it and did not do well. I have since moved the treatment to a hypo salinity treatment. SG is about 1.010. No signs of ich for since day three in the treatment. They will remain in QT with a low SG for another week maybe two. Then over the following week I'll raise the SG back up to 1.025 and leave them for another week.
Yesterday I also introduce bio pellets to the tank after I redid my fuge, I basically removed the entire fuge as I hate how dirty it gets. I added a 20L and it goes into a filter sock, then my skimmer gets to work, then I got my external bio pellet reactor running before my return pump. I also want to remove all frags from my display tank so my 20L has enough room for about a 10x10 frag holder. So i'll be starting off buying a 7x7 rack that holds approx 36 frags. I'll be putting a small tunze powerhead down there and the AI Prime when it comes out.
While I'm happy I "cleaned" up my sump, I'll have to keep a watchful eye over the filter sock to keep it clean. I also made A LOT of changes in a short period of time so I'll also be heavily monitoring the tank for that reason as well. I normally wouldn't make so many changes at once to keep the tank stable, but with the fish out, I figured it was the best time to make large changes.
