Gauging interest: Starting another Chicago area reef club

How do you feel about starting another Chicago reef club?

RC is great, a lot of knowledgeable reefers who are always willing to help and are very experienced, Reef 2 Reef is also one of my favorites. If I want to read drama I go to CR or pick up the new copy of the Enquire. If just seems like CR is a big click because a a lot of the veterans in the hobby don't post on either CR or CMAS they have their own group of friends and reefers and hate the drama they ready on this site. A new club is just another club with the same issues. Work with what you have and make it better is my opinion. I'm not interested in paying to be a member of any club, mainly if its "for profit".

This is exactly why this will go no where because the negativity and dumb comments from members. This is why I post on other sites and not here. I would have more post if I wanted to get myself in drama but I choose not to. Having 1000+ post doesn't mean you are contributing positively.

Continue posting on other sites, and not here, if that's the way you feel. You say you would post more, but don't want to get involved in drama? Hmmm? Negativity, and dumb comments? That's the pot calling the kettle black. 1000+ posts doesn't mean you are contributing positively, but atleast contributing.

This wasn't me being mean this was me saying g instead of bashing and the people here and the site contribute a bit other then 18 of 24 posts trying g to buy something . Sorry you took it that way believed me I'm just as guilty but right now my xanex just kicked in so I'm trying to be nice.

I for one would love to join and help out with a new club. If one were to be created, great. If not, I certainly won't shed a tear.

As far as all the drama goes, welcome to life as we know it. There's always drama in one form or another. It's called being human.

I joined CMAS, went to a meeting, wasn't my style. Maybe it was the demographic, maybe it was just a bad meeting. Seeing the current president on here within the last few months made me question the club.

As far as CR goes, I've enjoyed the time I've spent on here learning, meeting new people, and having fun. Many on here are generous, inviting, and all around good people. There are times on here where there is a lot of drama. Solution: click the button for "new posts" and move along. Most of us, myself included can and do get pulled into it from time to time. I've always tried my best to insert a funny meme or something along those lines.

Back to the topic at hand. Let me know if a new club will be created. I would love to donate some of my time to helping it succeed.

What I posted earlier but it was removed ... this is why CR cut CMAS off of the site. I don't blame Mike, he did the right thing. CMAS will never change as long as certain people are running it.

I joined this site and JARC at the same time, I feel that the size of this club gives a broad range of information. I love jarc though for its size and the monthly meetings. I dont know that forming another club will do anything positive, I feel that if utilize the resources that we have at hand everyone can benefit in the end. Depending on what one is looking for, it is out there, you just need to know where to look. If you want monthly meetings and to meet face to face often with the people that you are talking to check out JARC, if you are fine with meeting a few times a year then CR may already be giving you what you want. they are both home to experienced reefers with vast knowledge. I think that it would be better to put some energy into revitalizing the local resources that we have available to us now. I don't know what cmas is, so I did not vote either.

So I am thinking after the holiday, we can have an unofficial meetup to throw around some ideas.... Who is interested???
