Giant Frag Tank!

Okay. So I went from the idea of a 10g zoa garden, to a 30br frag tank. Then I started thinking about just how much I have to frag and how many I already have.

So I'm going bigger, 85g bigger! I'm planning on a 72"x30"x15" tank. It will be built with wood and use a pond liner. 24"x30"on the left side will be sectioned off for my skimmer, heater, Cheato, and most of my rock. This will leave me with a 48"x30" sand bed for nothing but propagation.

I'm thinking with a 15" tall tank I'll prob have it around 12" or 115g of water to allow splashing etc. so lighting will prob only need to be 1 400w MH. Correct me if I am wrong.

I'm also debating on running 2 korillas on either end or going with a 10g surge tank. I know surge tanks are loud and inject a decent amount of bubbles, but it gives the most random water patterns compared to most power head setups.

Any thought on this?

Been debating on going 72x36 or 96x30. Still finalizing the details. That's y I wanted to get other inputs.

Yup look at my 140 build not much there but its pretty cool

8 ft would give ya tons of room alomost 6 ft if you kept other plans and with no glass inserts this build should be a piece of cake

Yep. Keeping it as simple as possible. I'm real big on showing people great results without all the money investments in best of the best stuff.

Surge tank it is.

I just don't wanna be limited. I'm tired of heating acrylic and making new racks.

Egg crate is okay, but my leather frags tend to fall out of it or lean on everything when placed in flow. So I drill acrylic n they don't move.

4' would give me like 28x30(36). IDK.

Any thought on light? You think that would suffice.

One halide prob wouldnt give ya the spread since its shallow why not do less wattage and do a 6 ft fixtur or three individual fixtures

But if your locked on halides and 400 watt and not worried about cosmetics i might have a few things for ya shoot me a pm if interested

Well if I go 6' I'll only need 4' of coverage. But I was debating on 2x250 or 6x48"T5

Really depends on budget. I'm goin as cheap as possible. Without hurting the system.
