Giant Frag Tank!

oh yea george well i had steak for dinner tonite! boom...u win this time...but he said he wanted a 48in fixture...we shall see

Lol. Thanks for all the offers. I'll have to see. Gotta get. Few things out to fund the build first. So may be a Lil bit.

you didnt like leds george?

I liked it, but I had an Apollo non-dimmable pendant. 350 par on the sand in a 24" tall tank was no fun for most of the corals I like to keep now. Was great for all the acros and mille's at the time! I want new ones that are dimmable so I can just dial them down, get a nice deep blue color and make my paly collection POP!

instead of doing MH, look into multichip LED's. you can do 100 watt, or more easily, and color really doesn't matter to you all that much, or mix. Im thinking about them myself.

So I'm thinking on 2 10g surge tanks. Might go a bit smaller.

But each will have a different pump. So 1 will take longer to fill. Basically it will create a different water pattern all day. Kinda like when you have 2 things beeping at different intervals. They beeps get closer and closer, then get further apart. So the entire day the tank is receiving a different wave. From a min apart or so to both going off simultaneously.

Thoughts?

Might want to make this a lil taller considering the wave youll get one end to another never had a surge tho

Only plan on 12" water. At 72x30 Its about 9.5g per inch of water. So if they both go at once that's a total of 20g or 2" worth the water height, that brings me to 14". So with 15" and I'll have a 2" lip all around the edges. So give me 1" room for wave, then it'll break on the Rocks on the side of the tank since its so shallow, then it'll hit the edge n shouldn't be able to flow over.

Maybe go 16" tall. Or go 7-8g surges.

A friend of mine built a pond with a pool liner and got it for cheap from a pool store. The sales guy told him he couldn't sell it to someone with a pool because it was two years old, think he got it for like $50.
