Gyre 130 and 150 report?

Still think about it..Don't know yet..still hit or miss.

It's tough, while I really like the smooth flow of the gyre, I also really like ease of cleaning the vortech's, especially when you have an extra wet side, and proven durability and lack of cords (on wetside). I have one thought about a fleet (size varies with tank size) of mp's (including one extra wetside) making great circulation and simple efficient maintenance.

FYI, they fixed most of the issues with filmsy blades over the summer for XF130. They now come with more rugged blades.

I run the 150 in my 93G cube. The tank is mostly LPS and I like the flow. I've run Tunze's and Vortech's prior and I'm very pleased with the Gyre in comparison. I also have it placed vertically in the tank.

Have you cleaned your 150, and if so, how was it?

Yes I have. I had followed recommendations to mark the position on the parts with a colored sharpie before soaking in vinegar and disassembling it. No issues with cleaning and putting back together!

Gyre xf130 update. This morning, our Gyre (pulse mode for 6 months) was making an unusual noise, easily noticeable, because it is usually silent. Upon inspection, I noticed one side stopped rotating, and each pulsing attempt was causing the noise. Pulled out of tank. Dissembled and determined that the stopped sides center had broken off from the rotar. Thought I was done, however then I looked at the second set of blades provided and noticed they were more robust, so I installed these, which are now running and louder at the moment, waiting for them quiet down.

Disassembly, unfortunately more parts then I'd prefer, also could not remove the driver, which requires pliers on plastic to pull out.

Thanks for the report..I will not buy the gyre for my tank. I lean forward the MP40QD.
