Idk why they keep dieing on me:( i been trying to keep them in my nuvo 8.. They stay alive for bout 2 weeks. The longest i kept one alive was 1 month.. They tend to slow white out.. Not sure if my leds are too strong or what not.. My water chemistry is good.. Run a skimmer and do my weekly water changes.. Any advice or secrets on how to keep one? Thnks

I have a morning star monti I keep it about mid level with mid to high flow. I run t5 though so maybee LEDs are too intense try starting them out lower

Do nudibranches attack only montis.. Because all my other corals are doing ok like my zoas, gsp chalices, mushrooms, and dendros, elegance....

From doing my water change yesterday i didnt see any nudibrances.. I only have a small sand bed so they cnt be hiding there not unless they are in my live dry rock

Last time i heard; you were running the ai nano. IMO Leds are very bright. especially within 12 in. I tried to get my LEDS as high as i can by bending the metal arm really high. I start every coral at bottom. Try keeping some nice birdsnest and come back to montis when your tanks more mature. The BN comes in tons of varieties and is forgiving. Its also pretty difficult to get high flow when you only have 5 gallons in your display, but i havnt seen your tank yet so idk.

Yup i have the ai nano.. These leds are super strong had to adjust them and had to move them higher above my tank.. Im running a koralia nano 240 in the tank so i thnk my flow is ok.. My tank is 6 months old i thnk.. But i'll take ur advice i'll try with BN then move to montis after i get success with the BN

salinity n cal

My parameters are:

Salt: 1.025
Nitrate:0
Nitrite:1.0
Amonia:0
Ph: 8.3
Calcium:300
Temp: 80

Calcium should be up between 450-500 or at least 400. I would also drop down you salinity unless you have a top off. I have a 3 gallon pico. I don't do weekly water changes. I have a small bucket of Saltwater that I do a cup or two water changes every 2-3 days. Seems to work great. Also I keep the salinity down cause evaporation jacks it up. An inch of water is huge. Ran an led for a while and wasn't happy. Bleached out my nem and coraline on rock. Back to pc

Yes some species of nudis will only consume montipora.

A few months ago, I had to frag some rather large montiporas due to a nudi hitchhiker, suspected from a local store.

If the montis start to die around the edges, flip them over and you will may find nudibranchs munching on the bottom of the coral. They only come around when they have consumed most of the flesh existing on the edges of the bottom.

They look like pure white eraser dust clumped together.

If you have them, unfortunately manual removal is the only solution. I had to remove all of my montis and make small 1" frags and start over.

Hope that isn't it.

If you are running your LED's at max then your probably running too high. Since I took my radion down to 40% intensity at max, all my corals are doing great. I run my kessil 350 with my whites barely on and my blues about 2/3rds and corals my monti's are growing like weeds
Kessil on my 15g

Growth is on the left. This was the only piece that survived my radion at 100%. Purple cap?

New sunset monti that I have had for a month now and polyp extension is always like that growth is going well.

Radion on my 57g
Monti Capriconis Pink, was one piece until I was moving something and broke it. So now it's two!

I think you only suppose to run AI Nano at 30-40% intensity or you gonna bleach all your corals. Also, like others said, your calcium is way too low. Finally, why is ur Nitrite 1.0? Did you mean Nitrate? Nitrite should be 0.
