Is this a clam?

So my tank has been running for over a year without adding any LR... I just noticed this clam looking thing towards the back of my tank in kind of a shady area... If I touch this "clam" it will close up

Hard to see but in the center of pic .. It's actual size is about 1-1.5 inches
Has anyone ever encountered one of these ?

Hard to see how much coral do you have? Could be a mussel.

I have alot of coral !?!? What does that matter tho lol it's not by any coral really bc it's not in much light

I was asking to figure out how it came into your tank that's all since you have added no live rock.

I have two on a rock that I got from mcf. Best I can tell is mussels. Search for my thread about" my rock just moved" freaked me out too!

No it's like encrusted into the rock ... I dunno if it was small an I never noticed it before or what... Pretty cool tho

yeah mine too. they eat away at it or grow into it or something. Like when they retract they're part of the rock, right?

yep. they are crazy sensitive. they can definitely see. I have to sneak up on the tank to even see them close
