I think it has been long enough since I’ve started this build to FINALLY get a post of it for the world to see!!! Well Chicago Reefs’ world anyway HAHAHA.
From my own googling around, I was unable to find anything related to this type of setup??? So, I thought to myself.... "If I can build it, good things will come!" :D
I originally had a single corner tank setup, which was my first reef tank (the sump was different than the one in the picture below)

So, after sitting on the couch looking at this tank, I thought to myself "Would it be possible to have 2 corner tanks with 1 sump in between them to make it into 1 system!"
THEN BAM!!!
I begin my build ....
I was lucky enough to find a matching corner tank to the one I already had.
Well to find out, the people I contacted actually had 2 matching corners! So, I drained this corner tank down to where there were only a few inches of water. I moved this tank setup across the room, so I would have room to work on my new build.

Step 1 – Build 3 stands …. 1 for each corner and 1 for the sump

Put pieces together for accurate fit - (Stand, stand cover, tank side panels, and canopy frame)

Next I moved the 3 stands (I didn't get pics of the stand for the sump when I was building, but its just a basic tank stand) into place against the wall to make sure everything fit correctly.
The games were moved off the walls to be out of the way LOL

Got the plumbing, sand, water, etc. completed

After about a month of letting the system cycle (didn't want to rush it and made sure all the levels were reading correctly), and over the course of a couple months, I was able to get all of the livestock into the system.
I still need to finish the panelling on the stands and canopies, along with painting/staining

Left corner tank (will eventually become mostly SPS - the light was the only other light I have at this time)

Equipment -
Aquatic Life T5 HO fixture - they will both be 24" (right now I had to use a 36" light for the left corner)
(2) Eshopps overflow boxes - PH-800 style
(2) MP10WES - 1 in each tank
40br sump - made by me :)
(2) Rio+ 1400 return pumps
Reef Octopus NWB-150
(2) TLF Reactors - 1 is for GFO and 1 is for CARBON
(2) mj1200 pumps to run the reactors
JBJ A.T.O. Water Level Controller w/ Aqualifter pump
Standard plant light for refugium

wow, that's a very unique set-up. Could you possibly diagram the flow in a simple two dimentional format when you have a min? I want to see how you are dealing with the potential loss of balance in flow between the tanks and I can't figure out your plumbing from the pics.

Hey Nate, I hope this helps ..... I'm not using any ball valves for the returns... The tanks are at the same height, so the flow is the same no matter the distance apart....
I learned that from a friend of mine :)

Picture legend -
RED = drain
GREEN = return (output is in the back corner of each tank and water movement is directed from the back of tank to bow front (about half way down)
LIGHT BLUE = MP10 water movement in tank

No glare on the TV? The tanks look awesome, and I like the symmetry of two tanks. And the fact that there are two tanks. :D

No glare at all!!! Once the canopies are on top and everything is closed in, the only thing you will see is the front glass.

I don't get it. You have two tanks worth of entertainment, why even put a TV between them. Seems like a distraction :)

@Shannon - Sounds good!!! Just shoot me a txt when I can swing by and see the goods

@Aqua - I am still working on the covers/canopies.... just trying to find the time to finish them HAHA

Just to give you all an idea of what it will closely look like (still not sure on color/stain) when its completely finished.

It will be concealed like this -

And will be somewhat rounded shape to match the bow front of the tanks like this -
