Just Joined! Lots of pics!

I have been "reefing" for about six years on and off and in that time I have learned a ton via trial and error. I have never had the biggest budget so a lot of DIY came into play with my tank. The tank is a 36 Gallon Aqeon from PetSmart that I was drawn to because I love bowed tanks. I have an Eshops hang-on overflow that drains down to my 20 gallon DIY sump/refugium. I partitioned the sump so that after the mechanical sock the water would go through the skimmer and then into the next section of the sump, the refugium. The refugium has a bubble trap which leads to the last section holding the heater and return pump.

As you can see I have made an 5 gallon jug into a Kalkwasser auto top-off by attaching it to a float switch. This keeps my PH at 7.9 and keeps the salinity very stable. I just have to make new kalkwasser once a week. The two probes are, PH and Temp which are monitered/controlled by the ReefKeeper Elite. I wish i would have gotten a tank controller from the start they are amazing! I use a KED marineland unit to light the refugium on a reverse lighting cycle from my display to balance PH swings.

As far was water movement I use the return pump and an EcoTech Mp40 set at "reef crest" mode of "wave mode". The Reefkeeper doses every six hours alternating either Calcium or Alkalinity via 1 gallon water jugs filled with B-Ionic solution. The Aqualifter pumps move the solution to the sump near the return pump. This has kept my paramiters rock solid stable and my corals very happy!

That push in bulk head seems like a good idea! I'll definatly scoop one up! I have had my goni's for a long while. They are happy because i feel a lot of different foods!
