Yes, the hobby is expensive but it doesn't always have to be if you have good friends in it and are part of a good reefing community. I have saved tons of money since joining this site.

I think one of the best things to do is to set small and overall goals for your tanks. I made tons of mistakes on my first sw tank so because of this I try to make lists. This way I can get one thing at a time and cross it off but i see have an overall goal and estimate of what its going to cost.
