Well this last week and a half has been interesting for me. All of my livestock in this tank died (besides my inverts) and I went through everything and realized I used type 2 silicone for my sump. So I had to drain the whole thing, rinse everything as best as possible, redo my sump, and refill. I feel like and idiot for this happening but it seems like i am not the only one out there after reading worse stories online. I picked up a poly-filter which was recommended on some forums to clear out any remaining residue from the type 2 silicone + I am running extra carbon as well.
On a positive note I have gotten my single t5 supplement fixture hung and working. I picked up a bottle of doctor tims the other day and my tank has been re-cycling with that. Not sure if the silicone killed my sand and live rock but I did see some pods on the edge of the sandbed when my tank was sitting still for a day. I am planning on getting more live rock anyways but was pretty bummed out about the loss of my fish.
