Krockys 40 Breeder Build

Kameron! I just saw it; I saw how you're going to get the skimmer in the sump! Well done; I wouldn't have thought to put it in completely sideways!

Yes thank you so much Joe. I got home and drilled a hole in the top of the 90 elbow from the overflow and now its so quiet my fan is louder than it.

Looking good krocky. Very clean build. Are you adding sand? I'd worry about the light sitting on just egg crate. Condensation from heat will shorten the life of any electronic. Salt water is super corrosive. Good stuff!

Thanks Tom and Matt frostyjay is letting me borrow the lights and he did the same thing since one of the hanging wires is broken and I don't know how to fix it

Ok well be extremely careful with that light being so close to the water. You seriously have no idea just how powerful those fixtures are at close distance. I had one back in the day when Apollo was about the only place to buy one, and 6" above water, put out over 1300 readable par just below water. You will very quickly destroy corals without caution.

Maybe put zip strips or nylon straps around the light on either end and then hang it from those?

Looks good Kameron. Once you get your new light, make sure it's at least 8" from the water surface. It'll spread much better, and the PAR will be within recommended values. I have a similar light from the group buy, the d120 and it was about 4-5" above the water surface. I had it turned up and it was way too much light. Once I raised it up, everything did much better.

Good job on this build so far!
