Hey guys im at it again building my new reef . history started with 75 moved to 210. Then started fish only tanks 140 & a 500+ plywood build. started running out of room and made sense to make a reef that i will be happy with. Goals put tank in living room. Must be quiet dead silent if possible. And use old equipment where possible. i started this build on 4/19/12. bought tank new and started design building stand overflows diy style to save some cost and most of all get what i want from it with no corners cut. so i am doing alot of the work today k have already drilled three holes for my bulkheads and need one more for the return all plumbing will be 1 1/2 inch pipe drilled through the floor to the sump in bsmnt sump will be a 75 gallon glass tank and above that will be my fuge pump will kill some pods but im ok with that .equipment used will be:
Mag 24 return pump
Reef octopus skimmer exteme sx 200
Bubble magus doser
Three 200 watt heaters i think
Two mp40w es
Two mp10w es
Three leds units two captin coral and one apollo reef unit (might go different route unsure)
Reef keeper elite
Jns alpha two bio pellet reactor
I think this is it on equipment im drilling and building the stands today so ill get some pictures up as i go if you have any comments or ideas it will be appreciated thanks and enjoy #1 goal do it right the first time

Yes you did. i have to drill one more hole so just incase it blows im gonna wait lol should be fine tho and pics of bsmnt sump will do :-)

Lol im not posting it until drilling is finished so i dont jinx my self if it blows up on drilling id be upset what could have been i will get some pics up by end of tonight or tom morning

Hi Chris ,will be watching. If you want to be quiet as possible I would ditch the Vortechs and go with Tunze.I love my Vortechs too,but thinking of switching because of constant whirrrll from them. Not very loud but annoying.

Thats soo much money tho dont know what id ask for them and if all 4 dont sell im stuck maybe after i get them running they wont be full blast due to tank size maybe that will help???????

ok did a little work since i bought my tank few days ago here are some pics enjoy and comment ideas are good and welcome

Chris, that's a siiick tank dude! Nice job on the plumbing. It would have killed me to drill that nice floor though. Looks great so far, I can't wait to see the rest.

It didnt hurt since the finish isnt real wood i drill through peoples floor and usually its only the top floor and then plywood then bang your in bsmnt ill post a pick of what i drilled through was **** near 2 inches lol nd i smashed my finger thats why all four didnt get done thanks tho

Looking great. I am really looking forward to seeing how you set up your sump and stuff in the basement. I did not have the balls to try that....

Lol Dan, you could have just asked your wife if you could borrow them back for a few minutes to drill a couple holes! ;-)

But seriously yea, holes in the floor is dedication! This tanks gonna be sweet. So what happened with the plywood build?

oh those fish are great havent been down there much in last few days but what i did see they were all swimming about

plywood build is sitting on floor in bsmnt i was starting to plan out the stand and the plumbing since tank is tall i couldnt fit a sump under and have room to play so it was ethier plumb and see the sump or move 210 and let plywood tank tak its spot since miving it requires it empty i figured why not sell it and redo the reef and have one big fish only tank wife agree if we found the right tank this one is 90 gallons and fit in a space that was dead space anyways and she gets new furniture i have to move tv and cables but thats the easy part will only take few minutes moving the 210 into a 90 also means i have to get rid of fish and will have extra rock and sand laying around but thats ok yogo if i need something it will be on the transfer and i will give ya a shout carring buckets from bsmnt to upstairs is gonna suck suck suck

have finished the plumbing as far as i can go now im in stuck on lighting was gonna use my leds but i want them to be able to dim them thinking to go one of the new ati fixtures but cant figure out what fixture to choose , also looking at other leds but cant see how they would work at all because of the weird size of this tank anyone can help me will get some pictures up today of the plumbing job i have done also waiting on my acrylic to show up hopefully by next week i can finish it and tart moving help please lol
