nah, you're in for the earlier pic Mai. The staff does not feel the need to verify to species of submited organisms.
I hope that "unknown species" (which we should all know) wins it...too funny.

I've though about that and I don't know that I can police it without making all the votes public and we usually get more than twice as many votes as submissions so it hasn't been a problem yet, but when we end up with a 7 way tie someday I'll probably have to think of something. I REALLY want to do blind submission/voting but that flopped last time. The whole thing is really up to you guys so definitely keep the (constructive) suggestions coming. Thanks!

well the only way to do it was to have the submissions emailed to me. I opened tthe contest asking for that and got none. Opened it up to the regular post-on-the-thread method and got lots of responses. I'll try it again sometime when I have an additional reward to work with so I can bait the lazyness outta some folks
