Matts Coral Garden

Brad actually heard that you can hold up videos of clowns in anenomes to the glass of your tank and the clown will watch and learn. If you do it enough they begin to understand. We tried it and sure enough the clown swam right up to the glass and watched the video...and swam by the anenome and back to the video etc. If you do it persistently it may work. For him in the end it was a fluke that it happened but the video thing is fun to see!

The pseudochromis jumped yesterday. Long live my clown and poor tailspot blenny. That fish was very aggressive. I was planning to give it away this week, but it saved me some time.

Here's a quick photo of my new skimmer. Sc-65 $79. skimmer is still in the break in period. I forgot to wash it. I hope it doesn't take too long to break in. Very quiet.

Can I add a 90 at bottom to adjust the flow out?

Just a quick update... Everything has been perfect so far. Skimmers is proving to be valueable. It's pulling tons of crap. Microbubbles have stopped. I added a brs reactor from aquatica for $69.99 with pump. I've added a few pieces of sps and am starting to see a bit of phospate. I plan to run the reactor with both gfo and gac. With four small pumps; my temp rocketed to 86degrees on Tuesday. I have the air conditioning on today. The only coral that looked stressed from temp change was the rbta. It deflated all day.

Yeah, I feel ya.. My temp is about 84° right now, with all the windows open. I'm trying to keep from turning the ac on. I'm glad everything is still ok in your tank.

Whats a good way guys to keep tank temp down.. My 8 gallon nuvo temp went up to 87.. I put a bag of ice floating in the tank.. Brought it back to a 82. Any chillers or recommendation. Or any advice?

I would have suggested what you did, bag of ice. It's basically free and readily available. Seems silly to run a chiller on such a small tank, you'll use more electricity on the chiller than the rest of the tank.

I used a fan. Works well. It's very slowly dropping. I blasted the ac but its too expensive to run all day when its so beautiful out.

I need to get one pump for my return and reactor. I feel having two plus Skimmer and powerhead is heating my tank. Lots of electricity too. I only have 23total gallons. I think running the 65 gallon Skimmer 24hr is too much. I've seen an increase in my electric bill since I've added equipment.
