think it will be kinda educational if we learn from others mistakes

here is mine ..

doing a water change and decide to take water out from the back chamber .. forgot that it takes some time for water to get to the back chamber passing through all the filters and all .. bad thing is i forgot to unplug the heater .. so it started smoking once its outta water .. and gave me heartache for a sec when it said CRACK when water flowd back into the chamber. ..

so i had to take it out and test in a bucket of water before i get it back in ..

beware ..heaters are dangerous and a necessity ..

luckily mine survived all through and is working fine ..

Filled up a tank with water after having a huge crack siliconed and it broke more so I put a new piece of glass in the inside of it and siliconed that. It doesn't look like its new but it holds water like its new

I pushed my frag tank cart back into place after some maintainence and cracked the tank from bulkhead to base. Watch your clearances!

not knowing how to setup a u-tube overflow on my first few days of SW, overflowing the tank. that was fun pulling out all those stingy cords. the u-tube goes to the side of the drain, its not supposed to be a full siphon fyi......

While working in the sump I forgot to reconnect my ATO tube and it kicked in to my and the restaurant's surprise. They asked if I experienced a building leak and I looked at them with the same surprised look they must have had and replied "No". I'm going to hell, but my tank is gorgeous!!

Haha, I'll be the grammar police: "educational" was probably what you were looking for...

I dropped a dual PC fixture in the tank and started electrocuting myself as I was trying to get it out. Burned my arm soldering at 3am. Siphoning water out of an old tank, I inhaled a bit... *gag* Used ma old Evo as a flashlight which I put on top of the tank while I filled and I watched it slip in and stay illuminated for about 2 seconds before it gave up the ghost - only to be resurrected via the "rice drying" method ;)

There are many things, but being careful with mixing electrical items and water is always one to be mindful of.

:spit:

Using my python for the fw tank and having my slop sink in my basemens drain get plugged with some dead leaves. Flooded the basement just a little lol

My uncles ato failed while he was on vacation and he came home to a flooded basement and a tank full of floating fish. He tested the salinity and there was no salt left in the water.

Leaving the RO/DI unit on............... multiple times.

+16...for the times I've done it. Actually the most recent time, the waste line popped off where I hinge it on the faucet, and dropped into the utensil drawer, filled that drawer and kept going; I think it was almost 10gal all said and done all over the kitchen :p

Hmmm where to start last one was did a 40 gallon water change on my fish only tank and didnt think to unplug a old glass heater. fired up the power strip and heard pop yelled o **** opened door stuck hand in and grabbed a 300 watt heater by the coils. as if that wasnt bad enough pulled it out onto the floor and stood up yelling more words of encouragement and crunch yep what was left of the glass around the heater was now in both of my feet.

My last one was to have my ato fail and dump 35g of freshwater in my sump of a 100gollon coral tank.

Dropping my T5 lights into my 20G tank. As I was shocking myself trying to get it out , the spilled water fried my power strip.
