MP 60wes Loud

I've read alot on these (mp60) and some say they require a break in period for the noise to quiet down. Its been a week yesterday since hooked up, got it brand new. Its aligned properly and everything else seems fine, its just really loud. Anyone think I got a bad one or its just loud in general? :hmmmm:

Sorry ... Didn't see this. Mine isn't that loud, my mp10 is louder but then again... I have it on the lowest setting... I'll check it out tomorrow and let u know.

I only use MP40s. I have two of them on 75% reef crest and 3 feet from my bed. They are next to silent.

The MP60s ive seen have been relatively quiet. Its hard to know if something is wrong without hearing or trying to align it and see what kind of noises its making.

If it not under warranty, you may open the rubber of the dry side then put some alcohol in there (between the wheel and the housing). Let it dry and try it, it's may help quiet a little. I done it so many time and it works.

If still under warranty then call ecotech, they will take care of it.

Just a thought! Does the MP60 have the pin spacer on the dry side the same as the mp40. Check to make sure it is set for the right thickness for your glass if so. Measure the glass too to be sure too,

Why mess with it? Call them up and see if they can help, or just call 'em on the warranty, and request a replacement.

Additionally, does it rattle a lot / make a lot of noise all the time, or only when it hits certain speeds? If it is only at certain speeds, have you tried repositioning the wet side slightly during those resonant speeds? Just be sure to check it throughout at other common,y used speeds as well. Good luck!

It does not rattle at all, its just that the motor is really loud all the time.

Mike, you need to place your mp60 at the correct height of water level with return pumps and any other pumps completely off as well as the vortech , then place the wetside 1" below that water level this will help irrerate the water if your power goes out and you are not home, assuming you have a back up battery, plus when you align the wetside and the motor I would suggest placing your ear up to the tank and then having someone turn the power button on the vortech to the lowest setting, you might have to adjust it in small increments, you are looking for basically no noise at all. when that is set place the sticky tie wrap strap above the motor about 4-5" in height then turn up the motor slowly and keep placing your ear on it until it is quiet. keep checking to see how cool or hot the motor is running either on medium and high. if it's getting too hot it's not properly aligned, but you'll hear it and feel it in the motor.
Hope that helps.
