Mr. Thingdoer's 57G Deep Blue EDGE build thread.

Well, there's still not too much pretty stuff to look at, and I'm down to two fish because I had to rip the tank apart in order to capture a Bicolor Blenny that decided to eat all my frags. I need to add a few more well-behaved fish to pee all over my corals. Anyways, here's my first FTS.

Looks very nice, good start, are you going to keep it BB or add sand later?

Thank you!

This system was designed around some aquarium concepts that I noticed starting to appear in around 2010. Additionally, a lot of what Jake Addams is pushing makes sense to me. It was designed to run bare bottom, with aggressive skimming, and NO Refugium. Ideally, compounds are exported before they begin the nitrification process. I also made a little wand that allows me to siphon detritus that all collects in one spot, in 5 seconds, whenever I see an accumulation. I'm running a GFO reactor to take care of PO4 that might be imported from frozen food.
So far, I'm very happy with how it's working, and I should be past the part that requires daily maintenance soon. I hope to only have to maintain the system once a week.

I added a Midas Blenny, and a Golden Assessor. The Blenny is awesome, as most of you already know, but I'm really surprised by the assessor's behavior. I was expecting a shy fish who'd hang out in his cave, but instead I got a beautiful fish with an extraordinary personality. He's always out in the column.
