I no it's not the nicest stuff but I love my nano due to the fact that I jumped right into the hobby not knowing anything at all without even thinking about it and I've put work and a few bucks into it but to me it's the most awesome thing. :-) thanks to everyone that's helped and given me my first few corals. Also have a pom pom but she's by lookin so good since I missed a water change last week and barely did one yesterday but I know shell be looking all pumped in a few days

those little yellow polyps you gave me unatached themselves from the rock and floated somewhere lol

Lol...well, I have a bunch more if you want them. A group of about 4-5 detached in my tank too, and is just siting on the sand.

ok ill let you know as soon as i get these leds going. i blew three the rest i got on but two dont turn on but they work even tho they dont turn on because i used a led tester to turn them on

No dose on the back it was mostly there when I got the tank and the rest just grew :-) I don't dose nothing only additive I add is buffer when I do water changes and that's it

Was curious as to which LEDs you chose for you Nano? I've been thinking about the upgrade. How much did they end up costing? Was it worth it?

so after about idk how many months of having the leds i got for my tank i finally built the fixture and mounted them in the hood. i love the colors. unfortunately i dont have all the corals that are in the last pics i posted i only have the pom pom, the clove polyps, gsp, and one mushroom. the tank looks so down so sad without those things i had before. a small green polyp that look like it was melting is starting to open up again after about a month and a half i was surprised. i do think it was the lights because its my water params are always good when i check them. i have 9 RB leds and 2 cool white. i will be adding 2 more white in the following week. when the tank looks a bit happier then i will be posting a pic or i might tonight of how it looks. ive never had the best looking tank but its a work in progress. and on a budget

Dang i update my thread like every year lol well I just went through a horrifying case of hair algae and I think it was because I missed doing a water change by
about 1 month and it started to grow. it was contained to one rock only. Took the rock out and said good bye to it and to have a good life. The corals I have now are lunar eclipse palys, radioactive dragon eye zoos, pom pom Xenia, gsp that has gone through hell and back, single nuclear green paly, 2 mushrooms, small piece of chalice idk what it is, one clown and one cleaner shrimp. I've lost many coral because I have been so busy and not done water changes regularly but I'm catching up now :-) I will post a pic later.

Ok update time. So some s#it went down in my tank with some hair algae and I'm getting so frustrated of seeing it in just going to empty my tank and restart all over again. I want to thank Smitty for babysitting my only 5 small frags I have in there and also mark from reef city aquatics for helping me decide what to do and adopting my clown and cleaner shrimp. I'm going to be using the same rocks I have in there but first I'm going to power wash them dip the in hydrogen peroxide and let them sit in the sun. Hopefully that'll help. After that I want to buy some epoxy and build a nice centerpiece with the rocks I have. What epoxy should I use?????????? Should I use any of my old water????? Since all that stupid hair algae is floating around?????? Next, I'm going to be getting new sand. Just dry no live sand. I want my sand to be stupidly white and hopefully stays that way. Next, What should I use to clean my tank??? Vinegar??? Next, now I know this is a noob question but about how long should I let it cycle?

Since you're starting all the way over from scratch, I wouldn't use none of the old water. The peroxide will do the trick by getting rid if all that say on the rocks, just let then sit in the 50/50 solution for about 5 mins, and then you'll start to see the rocks start to fizz, and algae will start dying instantly. Hot water and vinegar will make your tank spotless again. You'll have to go thru another cycle which could take a few weeks, but I'll give you a piece of live rock out my system to jump start it. I'm not sure about the epoxy. Good luck bro.

Tragedy has struck at the 12 gallon jbj residence so this morning I woke up with the intentions of taking my frags to Smitty and my clown and shrimp to reef city when I went to my tank DEAD my clown, shrimp, palys melting, Xenia all dead looking hermits and snails all DEAD!!!! :-( we had a small family get together and I think one of the kids pours somthing in there :-( freakin sucks. I almost cried. Lol it wasn't much but to me it was. At least I was about to start tank is empty now and cleaned up rocks power washed and sitting in the sun. As soon as the turn white I'll refil my tank and start over. Make it even better.
