My 46 gallon Bowfront

yeah the temp will go up slowly because its just a small 50 or 75 watt heater (can't remember) and its a total of about 65 gallons. The frogspawn, palys, zoas, and birdsnest are all closed up yet.

Well I went to petsmart cause it was close and they did not have ehiem heaters, so I went to the lfs and they did not either so I left with a 200 watt heater similar to what I had. Only this time I put it is a "safer" spot (still dont know what happened to the other one last night). Then I started looking at the fish... and came home with a Tiger Wardi Goby about 2 inches in length. I will get some pictures of him later on today after he's done acclimating. Still waiting for the temperature to get back to normal. Its at 70 now.

So after a couple of weeks and getting a friend of mine hooked on reefing (TDB42)^^ I have acquired a few more corals. I am holding some base rock and some corals in my tank until his is set up and running smoothly.

I really like the shelf piece he picked out (shown in the middle with the majority of pieces on it) and will have to find something like it when things are transfered out.

By the way, the whole time I was gluing things down, my snowflake was attacking my hand. Its kinda hard to get use to because shes relentless with it. I dropped a few frags to the bottom because she caught me off guard.

That platygyra looks like it's settling nicely! Hopefully that purple stylo polyps out a bit more though. Thanks for stopping by, and awesome looking tank!

The purple stylo polyps were out fully right before the pic. I moved the lights away for a minute and they went away. Everything is looking good and healthy. Thanks again for everything, I'm really happy with my purchase.

Glad I could help fill the tank! You know how to reach me in the future! :D

So I put a bta in my tank yesterday and my clown was checking it out every 5-10 minutes but it seemed like the sting was irritating it. Then I watched my clown "chew" on the tip of one of the tentacles??? Now tonight after work the clown is snuggled right up inside the nem. Can't wait to actually see it with the lights on tomorrow.

So here is an update. The torch is in the process of splitting one of its two heads so it will be up to three heads now. The clown is loving the green bta and all the corals seem to be happy. I haven't been changing my water as often as I would like to. School is kicking my butt at the moment! I have been changing about 3-4 gallons of water every two weeks. I would like to be at 4-6 gallons weekly but since everything is doing ok and I really don't have the time to do a water change every week. This will have to suffice for now.

Here are some recent pictures.

Lets just say I am no pro at taking pictures. Point and shoot.

Well its been a while and my tank has changed quite a bit since last update. I have upgraded my lighting to the Coral Compulsion 120W fixture. This light gives me amazing color and great growth. I upgraded my sump to a 20 gallon long and put a diy frag rack in the center above the fuge. I also upgraded my skimmer to the SCA-301 skimmer. This skimmer is great! Here are some pictures since I know thats what everyone wants to see anways.

Tank with new light and shelf
View attachment 13971

I did have a concern with my torch. It use to be really green and now its a very light green. Could my new light be causing it to bleech? I have it at the bottom of my tank and the light is roughly 11 inches above the water. The light is cranked up to 2/3 power on blue and 1/3 power on white.

My sps are doing really well and I have been seeing growth in all of them. Its hard to get a decent pic with the water rippling. I will have to take the time and turn my pumps off for a minute or two to get a few pictures of these.

My old led strip lights is what I am using in my sump/frag rack. I will be purchasing a full spectrum 36W Coral Compulsion par38 in the near future.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me get this far. The coral bug has really got to me now.

The lights can definitely cause it to bleach and if everything else is doing well then I would put my money on that it is the lights. Go slow with LEDs they are notorious for causing light shock to corals.
