My switch back to t5

Maybe, if you look at the PAR charts for the $, they seem significantly cheaper than the "name brands"...and there is no DIY work, just plug and play.
Not saying they are great! Just that they seem like a good option between DIY and "top brands"...and won't have shadows ;-p

I did take par readings with my diy ones and it boosted my par levels up any where from 150 to 200 par which imo is pretty impressive . But at same time didnt really need more par lol so think my plan is since i didnt buy dimmable t5 at 10 am two bulbs come on the rest at noon then its back to two bulbs at 7pm till 9pm . So my thought is to have them turn on with the two bulbs from 10am til noon then back on from 7pm till 9pm and see what that does if any thing as right now the corals look better every day with out the leds so probably no need for them but i already spent the money and built them so might as well give em a try and this way my par readings only go up in morning and night when they were super low anyway because of only haveing two t5s on

My T5s are on/off as well.

My LEDs begin @10% at 7am and ramp up to 50% at 11:30...and begin ramping back down at 5pm. T5s are on 11-5.

I do leave the LED blues on 10% until 9pm to let the family enjoy all the colors :)

Nice. Do you get some shimmer now from the LEDs?

Yea definitly has some shimmer now . And tank color looks good today to did add some blue to the tank. Still running same temp as my t5 fixture gonna turn my fan on the same hrs as lights to help cool both the t5 and leds

So far so good no negative effects on coral i switched my fan to timer settings on reef keeper its keeping both lights cooler . Ended up turning down daylights to 6hrs on only sunce the par is pretty good with the two t5 and leds and everything is on the reef keeper now . Dam rk was acting goofy when i hooked to computer might be time for new one soon

To avoid adding heat to the tank I ended up having to add vents as well.

My fans pull air in from both ends and vent out the top.

The vents made a huge difference and being louvered the light noise is non existent :)
