I had considered one of these but I'm doing a steam shower and also a bar with sink AND I'll have a 4"drain plumbed in special for the future tank. I'm thinking of doing a raised area for the tank with a flood catcher built into it. More ideas than hours or hands unfortunately.
Had to go get a jackhammer anyway I guess my slab is a little more than 4". I hit dirt in a bunch of spots, but I can't break any of it out yet with a sledge. Now that it's so deeply scored I think will actually be fun. What a MESS that saw makes. I wasn't expecting the slurry

Interesting but I think that is probably overkill. I have a amerc in my current house that was like 1100 and it's probably too much. I'm roughing for a 32x48 pan with a 12" tiled bench so it's less than 15 square feet. But I haven't even looked at them in 5 or 6 years so I'll definitely keep it in mind. Do you have a good source for a pan for me? I haven't decided if I'm going full tile or a finished pan yet but I think I want to skip tiling the shower floor for ease of cleaning.

I would do tile, but that's me. I do not know much about steam showers other than I like using them at the gym, but doesn't the steam pretty much clean it for you?

Did you break up the floor?

I don't know if I can keep going today. I'm just not in shape for this kind of work anymore. Now that I have the concrete out I'm sooo happy to see the ground underneath is completely saturated CLAY!

You have around 80', I thought you have to calculate height as well on steam rooms?
I'm not really sure but I thought they just assumed 8 feet. You wouldn't really make a steam shower much taller than that because you'd be looking up at the steam:D

Do all tile and grout it w epoxy grout! It will never stain. Just pita to do if you've never done it b4

Didn't know that was an option. Sounds like a mess but probably durable. I'll look into it. Thanks guys.

If anyone wants to make $15/hr today hauling rock (no big ones) and drinking free beer, pm me.

Soooo the water won't stop flowing out of my foundation as I dig. Am I in trouble here? I put a hole in the knockout of the ejector and am using is as a sump but wtf do I do if I'm on a spring or something. I didn't really intend to have a water feature there.

Concrete likes it moist after the initial set so don't worry about it not curing. I'm not sure how safe it is but I would lay a plastic liner and wedge it under the current slab then put the pipes and pour the concrete. No one will ever know. You can even silicone the plastic to the current slab and the water will not rise. Or you can wait for the summer when the water table should drop a little. Btw if you need any help with the construction I will definitely work for you, gotta pay for this college just not sundays

Did the water slow down or stop with the cold weather?

my wife said it was completely stopped yesterday morning, but by the time oi got there it was a tiny trickle. I'm comfortable with moving forward now because I can tell it's related to the snow outside. Now I just need to go to ace to pick up a 5 inch hole saw for tapping into the ejector. I really appreciate all of the support guys. This project is definitely on the outside edge of my comfort level but, other than being grueling, it's not really that hard to do this. Certainly worth 4200 bucks for me to do it myself! So far I'm going to be in for about 700 total for the same job quoted at 4200. I should have been a plumber. . .

I had a feeling it was from the snow melt and rain.

"I should have been a plumber. . . "
Until you have to clean out a backed up sewer line!! ;-))

Dont forget to make sure you run the pipes down hill to the drain.

Good Luck with the inspection.
