New Biocube

I don't think that's enough substrate nor the right type to be considered a DSB. Illinijoe - I'm curious which LFS gave you that advice.

To be clear I wasn't suggesting he had a deep sand bed I'm not sure how to even make one of those. My lfs recommended keeping my sand bed thin between 1/2 to 1 inch which is what I did. they said thicker ones trap waste

What's your thoughts?

My thought is that I want to apologize to Jim for diverting this thread. DSB and what LFS told you to do that can be discussed in another thread. Sorry again Jim.

I rescaped to bring the rock lower to the sandbed. I was worried about frying some corals when I finally get there. I also have come to the realization that I probably didn't really have a cycle and will be dosing ammonia hydroxide to get the magic happening.

Day 4 of the cycle. Ammonia has dropped from 8ppm to 1ppm and Nitrite has finally formed and is at 1ppm. As recommended by Dr, Tim, I added 2ml of ammonia (half of day 1's dosage) to keep the cycle going.
