NEW Buyer/Seller Feedback Ratings

I don't really see a problem with new users posting fs threads. Seeing as how these fs threads are local buys, it's not like someone can steal your money over the web. Go there, if you don't like the product, leave the house.

My only concern is people using this site purely for selling these and not contributing to the site. As others have posted, requiring a minimum post-count is only going to flood the forum with 'x2' or 'great work' with no intention on the actual thread.

I think it's up to the buyer to be responsible in knowing if the drive is worth it or not. Do some research on the user, if he has a low post count and you don't trust the user, no need to move forward or take any additional steps. Just click Back.

I just found out about this forum and really excited about a local reef forum, but I don't want it to be like reefcentral where users above the 30k post count are kings and say whatever speaks their mind, while u 100 count users will be banned for whatever retarded reason the 30k user would like it to be.

Sometimes simply clicking on something or sending information to someone can end the fun permanently. I think we're brainstorming ideas to protect new sellers from undue scrutiny as much as protect the group from bad sellers. Just post count is inadequate, but this isn't primarily a commercial site, so we need to adopt something that fosters the exchange of ideas above all.

Thanks G it all clear now that it's Bold and Italicized for these old eyes lol

I know it was a just suggestion about the paid/1000 post and I was just saying

that it would be a little harsh if it were to be that way that's all.

You missed the very last word ....sponsor... and I should have included the "you" in the bold. (Basically have some one sponsor you) NOW who has old eyes? LOL .... had to put my glasses on, was just too lazy because I couldn't see my cane to go get them. LOL

Now that you explain it that way I think I get it.LOL My eyes aint only old but they dont both

go in the same direction either so maybe that's the problem. And yes you should of included

the you in the bold also.LOL good funnys so early on a Monday morning

well except that 1 time......

Haha...I like your subtly ;)

I agree that I shouldn't have to see a bunch of FS threads from people with less than 5-10 posts, and it happens too often. They tend to use this site as chicagoreefs.craigslist.com (Mike, can we buy that space on craigs?? That would be pimp!). I'm deff a fan of a minimum post count of some sort; not too high because you're asking for "+1"'s and such, but like RC, the min posts are supposed to be "meaningful". Even a 30/30 (days/posts) rule wouldn't be too bad to try initially, plus it sounds cool...say it with me, "30-30" ;)

20/20 and/or a waiver if someone sponsors your intro thread. (Paid or 1000 posts clicks "like").

Edit: Lol, I literally can't close the parenthesis without making that emoticon!

I totally agree. With the recent increase in scams geared towards reefers, it's necessary. I hated that to see the classifieds on RC that you had to be a member for 90 days and meet a minimum post-count, but now I can totally appreciate it. Too many people are logging in just to farm our money and not contributing. There was a scam on Nan-reef and RC where someone was trading their MPs for larger ones and a group of folks lost their money AND their MPs. Dude dashed and headed to Mexico and stole everything before flipping them and reselling on the boards for even more money. He got away with it as well.

We need to look out for each other, so I agree that something needs to be done. Brandon (sparky) attempted to do a little policing in the classifieds and folks chewed him a new azzz for tryin to be proactive and keep members protected. Now he rarely even posts on here anymore and I am sure it's because henow feels some sort of way. If we had some safeguards that were in place and enforced, these discussions and online tantrums wouldn't have to take place. Folks are so dang sensitive and are easily offended.

how about also adding like a seller rating.. everytime someone buys something from someone they can rate their experience...1 star being the lowest to 5 star being the best..

I've forwarded your idea to Mike. I'm not sure if its technically possible. I also suggested a buyer/seeler feedback forum. I used this on RC before buying something from an out of state guy.

Thanks Eric. I was just thinking about a feedback forum the other day and thought of forwarding it to Mike but I forgot :P I like a 50/30 idea. Gives us time to get to know people and they can't just tally up "nice rock work" posts in a day or two and go.

For the same reason, I don't like the idea. Just dont think it would work out all that well. The 30/30 sounds good though.

Thank you everyone for their great ideas. I knew one day rules were going to have to be enforced to help protect the community from possible scammers. Looks like the day has come. I'll definitely get something together and keep everyone updated. Happy reefing

Thanks mike for putting up the feedback score.. :)

I see the feedback score and haven't looked at it closely yet but couldnt we use what we already have? We can post messages on people's profile right? Why don't we post a short or long message on their profile if we buy/sell/trade anything with that person telling our experience. Or even if that person helps out via the forum or by coming over to the house.

Ok so I looked at feedback score and looks like that would work better then I suggested. Should be pretty neat now it's a matter of people giving the feedbacks to others.
